hello i am a new author on here and don't know if this is the right forum board but how long does it normally take to get your submission approved?

ty

The short answer is about 3 days on average.

However...

  • New authors often have a couple of extra days added on the first few stories
  • Themed contests sometimes delay posting ( the Earth Day Contest is ending today )
  • Audio/Illustrated stories only post on specific days of the week.
  • Unusually large numbers of stories submitted on the day you do can delay it as well.

As a new author, you shouldn't even begin to worry until at least a week has passed, to account for the various factors.

Whatever you do, do not click the pending link. If you do so, it can reset your story back to the rear of the queue, restarting the timer.

( some say that just clicking the link does this, though I'm inclined to believe it would only happen if you hit the "submit" button after viewing your pending story )

If your story includes some homo worship there's an express line for such submissions.

There is a FAQ on this

As follows:

This depends on how many stories we're currently receiving. We try to balance it so that submissions are posted as quickly as possible without overloading the reader and possibly burying your story. A story submitted to Literotica through the procedure outlined above generally will be posted to Lit within 3-7 days.

If we have problems with your story which prevent its publication (i.e. technical issues, etc.), we will let you know via an email to the address on your profile. If a story is submitted strictly via email without following the procedure above, then your story may take weeks to be posted. We highly recommend you follow the steps above.

Now as you're a newbie, note that this board has its trolls: JEJ and Scouries lead the league. Ignore them, or do the following: In a firm voice, say "Expeliarmus!" Then brandish your wand with decision and vigor.

Don't be impatient. I've been posting a set of chapters (as a bit of an experiment in readers' tastes) and its been anywheres from 3 to 6 days between submission and approval...

Oh, and estragon's suggestion of invoking the spell of expeliarmus has little real effect, but does make you feel more potent. Sort of a literary Cialis or Viagra.

In case you don't already know, a "wand" is the kind of thing Harry Potter uses. It is not weird slang for a penis or dildo.

Weldome to the AH, Goth Chick. Writing smut is a lot of fun. :) And this place is a nice place to hang out when you don't feel like writing.

Of course it could be, but that's another genre. Anyway, I waive consecutive translation.

OK so I am a new author and I have posted a story. It is listed as pending but has a publication date of tommorow. Does this mean it has been approved but will not post until tomorrow because of the numbers of stories that have been posted recently?

Pretty sure it means it will post tomorrow.

Yep, if you have a date and "pending" is no longer a clickable link, then your story will go live on the site at midnight on the date listed.

Every so often, Laurel pre-approves stories, and this is what you see when that happens.

Generally speaking, that means it will post at 9PM, PDT, which is two hours from now. It might be fun to go to your index page minutes before that time, and keep leaving and returning to see it when it appears. :) I have posted hundreds of stories, and I still like to do that when I have a new one.
