i bought a computer desk on the spur of the moment

it's second hand and quite large, about 2'6 deep by 6' long. a bargain at £40 but with a £10 delivery charge.

i got it delivered, but it was up to us to get it upstairs.

its size and weight meant little room to manoeuvre, and no 2 son wasn't a whole lot of help. so it had to be dismantled. it's taken me a couple of hours, but i have now got it put back together up in my room, the pc/monitor/keyboard/printer/mouse and sounds all wired in and working.

i am hot, dusty, knackered, and have two exceptionally purple bruises - one across the top of each knee - i got those before taking the bloody thing apart.

but! comfort! no more shelves digging into my shins. no more leaning forward to the keyboard... AND locking drawers both sides! snazzy, huh?

I've got the desk that was in my husbands office and it's one hefty piece of furniture. I can't remember how he got it up here but suffice to say I didn't help! I've also got his chair and it's still in pretty good nick considering how long he's been retired and goodness knows how long he had it before then. They don't make 'em like they used to!

They've got him up and walking now and lots of physio, going to see him this afternoon. It's funny I thought I will get loads done while he's in there, write lots of poetry ..... but what have I done? yeah that's right sweet fanny adams lol

One side was drawers, like a conventional desk, the othe side was for the computer, including a power strip sort of thing. Other than that, solid oak. And lots of little drawers above.

well I was thinking more of my bruised ribs (did you know that when you want to sneeze and you usually take a big breath beforehand when you have bruised ribs the body automatically doesn't?) so I'm not sure where you are coming from with tea cozies and flowerbeds!
