From Police no less!

A flotilla of yellow rubber ducks intended for a fund-raising event has been stolen from a police academy in suburban Chicago. The Beacon-News in Aurora says Friday that some 2,500 ducks took flight this week from the Yorkville Citizens Police Academy.

Police say several of the toy ducks have been found on a Yorkville roadway and request that any more found be returned to the academy. Police plan to use the toy ducks in their annual "Duck Pluck" to raise funds for the academy.
:mad:Well, this is a dastardly deed! I cry fowl!

Is... Is there a big black market for rubber ducks? Is that what this is?

Also, Ha ha, fowl... I get it!

I quacked up when I read this. Waddle the cops do now with no ducks? Someone must have egged the thieves on to steal the little guys. I guess the cops'll have to buy more duckies and send the Police Chief the bill. :D

Do you really Juan me to take this seriously? (if we are going to play words games, I'm going to play the Juan card)

Serious! Staying in a Hilton recently they were selling teeny plastic duckies for charity. Being childish I bought 2 boxes and proudly presented them to my young niece. She proudly put them in her bath and they all went ass over tip head down. "you've drowned my duckies!!"

Don't expect sympathy here.

With Mallards Towards None

with charity to all, I leave this discussion, as it has reached the bottom of the Peking order.

Locally we have recycled plastic ducks.

Not only are they made from recycled plastic, but they are used by a range of charities for duck races in the summer. Each duck is numbered. You buy a number and the ducks are released into a local stream beside a public house.

The first duck past the winning line wins the sponsor a cash prize. The rest, from 2nd to however many, win raffle prizes.

The charity sells secondhand books and other secondhand items in the pub's garden. The pub provides food and drink at standard prices and makes a donation to the charity.

The ducks "race" about 8 to 10 times each summer. In the winter they live on shelves in the bar.
