In poetry, the achievement of passing information is as easy as passing gas
(and equally attractive).

Aphorisms come to me naturally. Each time each of them feels like it's impossible to forget it. Then... it's gone. Forever. Thus I ended up with only a handful of them. Even those which I did record found a way to get lost anyway. There are so many ways. I hope that this thread will catch some of those small creatures at least for a while. Go ahead and save here--in this thread--yours too.

not mine - a guy named Lionel E. Deimel

A promise not to change is a promise not to grow.

Blood's thicker than water but it ain't glue. This is mine from a while back.

Things left to themselves work out to the way they are now.

This is cool and has stayed with me since I first read it acouple of day ago.

I am starting to see this kind of stalking of the fridge by my son. :DHe's twelve and his brother as a teen had an EPIC appetite. Not looking forward to the food bills.

When I give food to the poor, I am a saint; when I ask why the poor have no food, I am a communist.

You have it wrong:

Conservatives give the poor their own money.

Communists (so-called liberals) give the poor the money grabbed from others (but first pocketing 95% of this money for their cause and for their beloved bureaucracy first).

Actually, the so called liberals push more and more people into poverty in order to justify the existence of the liberals.

In order to have someone to look down on.

life is like a snowman. but the snow always reverts back to its natural state, is re-absorbed - not lost, continues on.

We and snowmen are opposites! Thus let me transform your aphorism:

The eternal reincarnation:

... snowman man snowman man sno...

Hey!

Being right is not always good enough.

A second one, not perhaps an aphorism but the comment of an elderly Yorkshireman about the local MP (member of Parliament) after the latters speech at a town hall meeting

"Thee be like a cock in't barnyard, all squawk n' shite"

brings to mind 'A whistling woman and a crowing hen be no good to God nor men'
