When someone rips your toenail out at the roots?

Infection?
Having never needed it, I wouldn't know.
Your doc probably used local anesthetic. Next time, insist on the imported stuff.![]()
Having been that someone on many occasions is why I always booked Outpatient Surgery before lunch.

I mashed a fore claw but was lucky in that the considerable deformation all grew out and now it looks perfectly normal. Sure took long enough, though.
To be honest, the only part that hurt was the anesthetic. I think I hate the man for it.
From Scotland I presume.![]()
Similar problem; then I got an fungal infection in it (treat with iodine).
It still hurts. . .
Don't hate the man. A digital block always hurts going in. Once it takes, all should be good.
He could have done it without a digital block...![]()

Nailbed fungus infections are the shits. The most effective treatment is with a laser. Not sure if that has spread outside the U.S., though. HM had hers done as part of a study. 'pears to have worked.
Sorry to hear about your toe.
Thankfully I've never had to have a nail yanked. The closest I've come was having several small holes drilled through a nail to relieve pressure when a piece of Plywood slipped through my hands and dropped edge on directly on my toe.
Keep the toe clean and keep using the anti-fungal on it.

I drilled holes in my toenail as a kid on the farm. I dropped a wagon tongue on it and, with no health insurance, unless blood was gushing or a bone was protruding, we didn't go to the hospital. Dad handed me the bent paperclip he heated and I burned the holes in. It didn't hurt and it sure felt better after it drained a bit. Whew.
I had a bad bleed under a toe nail. I don't even remember why. The whole toe turned purple/black. I drilled my own nail using a tiny drill bit from the tool box. The relief was almost orgasmic. It was like a tooth ache that suddenly went away but produced a bit of a mess.Mom drilled through mine with a large sewing needle. Release of pressure was wonderful.

In the hospital Emergency Room there were fancy high speed drills for poking a hole through a nail to relieve a sub-ungual haematoma.
A bent paper clip and a Bic lighter to heat one end worked better, faster and was far less painful.
Gimme that old time medicine...
Had the nail surgically removed from my left halux, but some cells seemed to have been missed. Now I have two small nails on that big toe, growing towards each other from opposite side. Great conversation starter at the beach...
