Wasn't last month great? May have been one of the best months ever over in new poems.

It was a good month, wasn't it. I know I enjoyed myself to the point of grinning like a lunatic after reading some of them.

I also got to read some poets that were new to me and added a couple of them to my favorites list.

Maybe March will be good too. I have a couple of garden poems just for you, 1201!

;)

Groyne
byKaishaku

The groyne spoke
of a grey descent
into silent lapping –
ripples on possible glass.
Long before the whisper
the breeze eased
into motion, a cadence
of waves began the sound.
The uniform posts
stood firm attention
listened for orders
the groyne spoke.

Just a Matter of Time

Something out there watches me
from the mirrors
and the walls behind
has found its way inside my mind,
Voices bait me,
make me wary,
solitary.

The evil squatter never sleeps,
needs my vigilance night and day.
I play its game, let it think
I've found a chink through
which to watch it
hatch the strategy.

Now I'm smart,
I sleep on gritty streets,
new doorways every night.
I walk, eyes down. Hat
pulled low helps to hide
from eyes desiring
my soul.

The enemy
in child-disguise
peeps beneath the brim,
fingers on my soul.
My hands reach out towards blond curls
to save my soul, keep it close, then
legs flee from her mother's screams,
my soul intact.

A knife in my boot,
razor-like,
will cut off my ears,
silence the voices
when they gets too close
to my soul.

It's

just a

matter

of

time.

I don't know if it was the best ever, certainly one of the best last month.

Given your usually high standards this suprises me. I thought it inferior to others presented in March, but thank you all the same.

Just thought you must be referring to Mardi Gras we don't do that here we're more into traditional pancake races

Right. Never been too much involved myself, certainly not in new Orleans or Rio for the event. Best I've ever done is Galveston once and Kemah.
Kemah's a bit different and fun - folks on boats throw beads to people on the boardwalk. Kemah is a more family-oriented celebration and less of a debauch. I'm sure they're back in business and rebuilt after Ike.

We do have carnivals here and my town hosts the biggest one day carnival in Europe

Sounds like a good affair to visit and likely to be nice weather.
We had (perhaps they still do) a weekly carnival in the town I grew up in. About a week, around the 4th of July. Mostly rides, also food like cotton candy; some games of skill to win stuffed animals and the like.

Ours is the late May bank holiday and as for good weather it has been rained off before now, they have a parade from one of the parks and through the town which is blocked off to traffic on the day although it is mostly pedestianised in town now anyway. It's a long walk for the tinies taking part though a lot are on floats and their skimpy costumes has them shivering in the park as they line up for their places. It's changed a lot since I used to do a stall mostly ethnic music all over the place although there are stalls. I once won a huge rabbit that I was sick of carrying around all day! One thing that gets on my nerves very early on is the damn whistles they all blow and now those weird horn things (can't remember what they're called) that they started using in the World Cup.
