It's up next in my Netflix queue, but it's not on its way yet. Do I get it, or should I get something else?

It sucks, something about bugs, and getting fucked against a tree.

Will you be forever curious if you don't see it?

I liked it a lot, but it doesn't contain any Real BDSM (R) or True Love (TM), so some Authentic BDSMers (patent pending) may not like it.

I was wondering about the True Love, not the Trade Mark, but, touche, touche. :)
Meah. I had a couple more, but figured it was in better taste if I stopped at "a bit sammy" instead of launching myself into the land of "rude and possibly offensive."

I'm sure the Trade Mark was what was intended, though.

Ah. I see what you're talking about now. Sorry. I forgot that the discussion was actually about a movie. The movie part I've no clue about. Take that out of the equation, though, and my answer can still work either way.

I've seen it a couple of times. I didn't like that Maggie Gyllenhaal's character was made out to be a sub because she had psychological issues and was a cutter.

Not all of us are disturbed, some of us just like being controlled and spanked ;)

I don't think she was a sub because of those things.

I think she was anyways, and that stuff was coincidental. I liked that he made her stop though. :D

I liked this movie a lot. So many great scenes. Wardrobe control, control of food intake, the spanks...
It planted some new thoughts in my head.
My sexuality has changed for the better I think, because this movie opened the door to that possibility.

And, James Spader....*sigh*

Hope you enjoy.

p.s. cute new av, tek. so...fluffy.

I liked the film, but thought the Dom was fairly weak. Not someone I could submit too.

It's not at all what a BDSM relationship would be like, if I were the boss and Maggie Gyllenhaal was my secretary. She's hot! Spader? I could take him or leave him, but I think that is partly why I'm considered a heterosexual male. I'm suppose to think Maggie Gyllenhaal is hot and not care much about Spader. I'm sure the hetero females would probably feel opposite to me.

The movie is worth seeing, but I think it lacks substance in some scenes. Maggie does put on a very sexy submissive face, but I think Spader (here's some more of my hetero shining through) lacks something, at times. It could be just me and my tastes, though. I look at this movie as more of a vanilla attempt at BDSM or D/s than anything.

Should you watch it? Netflix isn't that expensive so I'd say it's at least worth watching because what do you have to lose? And you may enjoy it enough to buy your own copy. I've thought about it, just because I have the hots for Maggie, but up to this date, I've managed to control myself.

I'm not a fan of the movie and found it fairly weak IMHO. Saw Maggie G in an interview recently and the subject of The Secretary came up and she found it amusing, if not strange, so many people come up to her and stare her in the eyes while telling her in an ultra serious tone how much the movie had changed their life. I gather she felt that was lame if not downright strange. The word weird did come up.

I think "lame" is the word I've been wanting but not bothered enough to search for.

Meh. Saw it when it was first released. Meh.

I liked it quite a bit when I first saw it several years ago. Parts of it were definitely hot, some meh. I think it depends how..."jaded" isn't quite the right word, but I can't come up with a better one...something without the negative connotations that implies. So, for lack of a better word, I think it depends how jaded you are. If mild hints of BDSM get you off, it's a hot movie. If you're past that and it takes more, than this might bore you a bit. I love Maggie in general, and I felt like this was a nice mainstream crossover for BDSM. But jeez, do we really have to have the conversation about whether this is real BDSM? Seriously? Can't we just agree that, as with EVERYTHING else, it's hot to some and not to others and that's FINE, blah, blah, blah?!?

Also, I agree with a PP...I don't think the implication was meant to be that she was an s-type BECAUSE of her psychiatric issues. I interpreted it that the BDSM relationship HELPED her. Like she was finally OVER the self-destructive tendencies because the relationship with Spader was what she'd always wanted and needed and she finally felt balance and healthy and happy and understood. I can relate to that.

Ditto. Everyone made it out to be OMG, the edgiest thing EVAR, but it was incredibly lame in my book.

Alright. I'll get it. Just have to drop off the current one in the mail tomorrow morning. Thanks, folks!
