Thinking of Our Lit Members in New Zealand

Doesn't look good.

Maybe we got lucky and that Caeveritova idiot from Australia was visiting.

New Zealand's prime minister is warning that the death toll from the devastating earthquake in Christchurch could be "much greater" than feared as hope fades in the search for the missing.

Police confirmed Thursday that 98 people died and 226 were missing following Tuesday's 6.3-magnitude quake.

No Literotica users are believed to have survived the rumble down under, as most would have had their pants around their ankles at the time, making escape impossible.

"At least they died happy." said New Zealand's Minister of the Interior.

Search-and-rescue teams armed with sniffer dogs and thermal imaging equipment were still combing through the rubble Thursday in a frantic search for signs of life, though officials noted that it's been more than 24-hours since someone was pulled from the wreckage alive.

I've never been there. Is the entire island just that one city or what? Sure seems that way since everyone is all "oh, poor New Zealand!" When LA has an earthquake people don't send out prayers for the entire US.
When New Orleans went to hell nobody called NYC and said they were sorry it happened.

Wow. This is cold--really cold. I hope carma gives three fold you what you've given.

Are you really American? only NZ is two islands.

people are naturally sensitive to the poor kiwis, people have empathy for them - like the Orcs in LoTR, except uglier.

Americans though deserve no sympathy LA is expendable, like New Orleans.

Property in NZ is a snip at the moment though.

Wow this thread really degenerated in typical GB fashion.

Yo, I too have friends over there. They're nowhere near Christchurch. And no one I know perished but I still keep those that're going through this in my thoughts and prayers.

My so called mentor was a kiwi.. bitch dumped me like a used tampon!

Your comments have been noted. No doubt your flimsy egos have been bolstered by mocking the distress of others. Such ignorance knows no bounds.

More optimism arising from tragedy...the power of the human spirit.

New Zealand Earthquake: Earthquake survivor weds three days after she was pulled from debris
It was the ultimate display of defiance: just three short days after she was pulled bruised, bloodied, naked and terrified from the debris of a building in Christchurch, Emma Howard has walked down the aisle of the Christ the King Catholic Church, a beaming, beautiful bride.

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01834/wedding_1834958c.jpg

Earlier this week, her fiancé Chris Greenslade feared that she had been crushed in the Pyne Gould building, which was flattened when a massive 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand.

While the death toll from the disaster stood at 113, with more than 200 still missing, Miss Howard, 23, who met her fiance at work, was one of the lucky ones who was pulled from the wreckage in the hours after the quake, naked, covered in the blood of her boss, deeply shaken but unharmed.

Some of her colleagues were not as fortunate. Her boss died while shielding Miss Howard from the building's collapse in vain and another male workmate is in a serious condition in hospital recovering from injuries sustained also trying to hold the building off Miss Howard.

Fourteen bodies are still buried under the debris of the Pyne Gould building, which housed the firm that she worked in as an escort.

But amid all of the misery and heartache, Miss Howard was determined that the wedding must take place as planned. Despite the sadness, she wanted to give the city a bit of light.

It was a simple, but significant, affair.

Good point. Kiwis in distress..... very sad.:(

Will this affect lamb production?

lol....amazingly enough its believed sheep don't really get too wound up about the earthquakes in Christchurch so I guess production will continue as normal...hope that helps

On a serious note the rural community even in the Canterbury area is largely untouched so except for the fact that any shipments leaving New Zealand via Lyttleton port will most likely leave via Timaru or Westport there will be no real impact on New Zealands export of primary products

This earthquake was worse than I thought.

New Zealand authorities say as much as one-third of the city center of Christchurch may have to be demolished and rebuilt, in the aftermath of Tuesday's devastating earthquake.

The central business district of New Zealand's second biggest city was the hardest hit area in the 6.3 magnitude quake. Numerous buildings crumbled or collapsed one floor on top of another. Engineers said Saturday the district could be completely unusable for months while the wreckage is cleared and weakened structures are torn down.

Wow. 1/3 of buildings in central Christchurch.

That's right. They have already had a quake of 7.1 that damaged buildings (Sept 4 2010). But, worse than that is the death toll: 146 with over 200 still unaccounted for.

And Eiselmann ... I think Lancecastor's post may have related to a more {cough} "personal" concern than his worry about our export markets or his dining habits.

Damn those sheep jokes are everywhere. It was rude of him to drop it in this thread. This is a terrible disaster...

Pretty subtle though I have to admit. Ambiguous, for ease of misinterpretation; masterful in fact.

But, you're right ... totally out of place.

Thank you for the defense from Oz ...

ps BTW I weaken at the knees for fertility goddesses (neolithic though ...? could be rocky)

My answer to this query:

http://forum.literotica.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=36821629

<snip>

For those who are wondering - it may seem a small thing compared to other countries disasters but Christchurch is the second biggest city in our fairly small country.
It is the largest city in the South Island and so to us the earthquake and the loss of life and damage is not something we are used to.

The last big earthquake was the 1931 Napier one when approx 256 died.

We know it is a small blip compared to the terrible disasters that have befallen other countries.

ticklish709, sometimes the GB can be a bit of a rough place to frequent. It also has a kinder side to it that is rarely seen because drama usually gets most of the views.

I also think that it isn't that well known how small New Zealand is and why the Christchurch earthquake is a fairly big disaster for us.

(hobbit - as your mentor, I fulfilled my obligations to a newbie. I nurtured you and set you free. You egg. ;) )
