First time victim of Loving Wives

Hello all, just wanted to rant a bit about the "ITS A TRAP" category Loving Wives.

Having four stories up, all getting pretty decent 4+ marks and some very nice comments from people, for my fifth story I decided on doing one in Loving Wives. Now I have been lurking for some time on this board and I did know about the dangers of the cuckold demographic but experiencing it for yourself is something else.

Now the story has been only up for 8 hours or so but the joy of seeing a story you wrote being published and getting feedback, something that should be very exciting, is just being ruined by some people who do come to these stories but somehow can't handle the subject matter.

Its around 2.44 with 138 comments (almost equal my most "successful" story to date, Lake house Holiday with 176 votes, score of 4.48.) but the viewers number is very different with the cuckold story being below of 15k vs 91k.

And the thing that's hurting me the most? :( just because I put the cuckold story out I'm seeing my other stories drop, stories who have been steady for some years now.

Is this something other authors have experienced in the cuckold genre?

And yes I knew the traps, and fear not my skin is fairly thick, but I felt like ranting for a bit and perhaps get a current discussion about have another section for cuckolding / bad wives going.

edit: Story in question;

And she's pregnant as well. Oh my!

Next time, add an unnecessary two characters. Have one character slap the other, then get back to your main story. Submit it under BDSM and your problems will be over...maybe...

You have my sympathy. I don't read LW, generally, b/c I just don't care for stories about cheating spouses, whether or not it's consensual, although I know not every story in that category is like that.

It is ridiculous that your other scores would drop as well. Some people obviously have a lot of time but little brainpower.

I've long thought Lit should either rename the category, or add another, as you say. Erotica Republic used to have one called "slut wives," which could be useful. Although "bad wives" could work.

And once again one wonders -- why no bad or slut or loving husbands?

You're a braver writer than I am, Gunga Din. Welcome to one hell of a baptism-by-fire. You can now claim to be among the few, the proud, the screwed who've posted in LW. It's not a big club, but it is exclusive and includes bragging rights.

You have my all my sympathy, but, yeah, that's the category in all it's charming glory.

The only reason I write in Loving Wives is to poke the trolls with a stick. Sometime with a very sharp stick, other times with a the blunt end.

I have a broad spectrum of LW stories posted...from the pure lustiness of a cheating wife, to the husband that pushes his wife into cheating on him, to the husband being the ultimate hero to the biggest section of those trolls by just up and killing his wife for cheating, to what happens when the husband wants his wife to fuck others and she refuses and kicks his ass to the curb.

I don't think I have ever received as many comments as you, but most of what I have received has been split 50-50 as to like and don't like. Most of mine started out with 3+ score, but have slowly rose to high 3's low 4's.

I read comments and have to laugh at the hypocrisy of the readers.

I probably write in LW as much as anyone. Some of my stories are truly a loving wife. I would prefer the name change to 'Adultry' It could cover both the male and female cheaters. Just an opinion.

For the record Zeb I'm sure you have received many more comments than him. I think he may have meant votes because when you go to the link it says he has 5 comments. I mean I know if it's only been up a few hours it may not be current but, not to sound like a jerk, I find 138 comment is in less than half a day a little far fetched so thinking he looked at votes and even with that 138 seems high. Anyway I couldn't come up with a loving wives story if my life depended on it so hats off to Trean and you Zeb and all the other true masochists of this site.

Ah so, grasshopper, what is your lesson learned?

It's an insane category. You're as likely to piss of as please an equal number of readers and the LW folk are very vocal, which is part of the appeal of posting there.

I think you're right; the LW folk take it hard and punish other stories. Sucks they have no respect for the score and little inhibition in hitting 0. Scores mean something to authors and nothing to some readers regardless of the quality of the story. Like I had an LW reader one bomb me for forgetting to put Ch. 01 in the first installment and it bled over to some other stories.

Oh well.

My Stories Get Trashed

and I don't even have that excuse. I never wrote an LW and wouldn't know how. Anyway, my one "H" disappeared in the last two days. As for the trolls, wannabes and general dead-end losers who infest the LW thread (and elsewhere), I repeat the admonition of the late Brendan Behan: "Fuck 'em all but one, and he can fuck himself!"

Same thing happened to me earlier this month in LW. I felt the same way since my other stories (I only have a couple of others posted) had gotten decent and constructive reviews, which as a new author I appreciated.

At first I was kind of hurt, then I started to see it as funny since one of the commentators was complaining about the morals of two of my characters. I felt like telling them "uh, hello it's just fiction/fantasy" but doubt that it would do any good. What concerns me is the LW story I wrote is actually the first of what could be a series of three stories. I haven't decided if I'm going to post the other two parts of that series or not. If I do I will probably leave comments off. Or maybe I'll change plot of the story to something more morally correct, such as: "Sue couldn't stop thinking about the night she'd slept with Chris but then she remembered that she was a happily married woman and never allowed her mind to wander to those thoughts ever again. The end". Nah, I think I like the morally-incorrect version I've already penned better ;-)

The scores don't matter. They're not a measure of your worth, or even your talent as a writer. On a site like this, they're little more than arbitrary anyway.

Don't let the bastards get you down.:)

Just a thought, but if you've got a few Loving Wives stories in you, it might be worth considering having a second author name.

I suspect that if I were to write a Loving Wives story (which okay, ain't likely :)), I'd get bashed by some of the folk who read my romance stuff - cos I'd dared to write something other than my usual slushy fare.

There are a number of authors on here - including me - who have more than one pen-name and use them depending on which category their current story falls into.

Ah...yes, I do have more comments then.

I bet you could write a LW story...you most likely have already and don't know you did. It's all about a turn of phrase. Or a couple just being together and loving each other. In some cases that couple is not married to each other but one or both are married to someone else.

It might depend on the POV in which you write the story.

The best attitude to have...as for the trolls in LW they can all go fuck themselves. The are the most hypocritical group on this site.

I write all my stories under on pen name...if people can't take what I write in any category and troll my other stories because of what I write then fuck'em. I'm not here to win a popularity contest. I really don't care about scores. I have in recent months seen red 'H' slide due to trollism.

I just laugh at them, the comments I get from those that appreciate my work far out weight those that don't.

I did have an alt where I wrote similar stories as a female...guess what...they were well liked by those who posted comments.

Draw your own conclusions about that.

I guess the question is whether you're willing to be a second time victim of Loving Wives.

The Lit category, that is. Any loving wives in your neighborhood is your own business.

Oh woe! The agony of unsubstantiated criticism!

Scrape 'em off. You're writing porn for shit sake.

I have posted many Loving Wives stories over the years, so I feel your pain. I've learned to ignore most of the barbs, and I just delete the most heinous comments. I'll write what I want, they can go f themselves.

My last gasp response is " Fuck 'em all but two ... save them for pall bearers"
Feel free to use it if it fits.

That's my experience as well. I have two stories in the "Loving Wives" catagory. Each story having thousands of views with low scores.
I have a story in "Erotic Couplings" doing quite well with scores but have 1/3 the views. It's almost as if there are people dropping "one bombs" who hate the catagory.
20 positive comments on one story, 1 negative.
Why bother reading these stories if your only intent is to score it low and insult?
I really enjoy writing 'Loving Wives" stories and even have a work of fiction written but I'm not sure whether or not to submit it in that catagory. I may decide to change the story a bit to qualify it for a different catagory, not sure.
BUT, then again I may say piss on the scoring and write what I enjoy writing. People must enjoy these type of stories or the views wouldn't be what they are...

So what would really piss em off? The more I read of this section, the more I want to write something simply designed to be provocative. Any hints as to how I could make them go nuclear?

Yup.......write a story about twins swaping husbands....that'll get the haters out.
Wait......maybe I'll write that one! See, my mind is always in the gutter.
Fuck em, write what cums easy. I'm going to. This is fucking porn folks, not the Disney Channel. Isn't that what erotica is? If all you want to read is romance novels, go buy a book.
I AM GOING TO WRITE THAT TWIN STORY, watch the haters attack

Am I the only one that gets some positive comments in the LW category? Come on authors. I'll agree there are a lot of negative comments from these readers but I also get a number of positive ones.

Dump the cheater in the story is usually a positive, either male or female.
Reconcileation is about a 50-50 deal depending on the severity of the cheating.

Being a cuckold, gives 90% negative comments.

Sharing, swinging should go into group, not LW.

Revenge is a positive in LW, but you will even get some negative comments on it.

I have also written a few truly loving wife stories here and most all have 'H's.

Overall, it's a fun category to write. Usually lots of reads and votes. Also lots comments.

These same LW readers also read other categories and you can pick up new readers.

Good luck to all who write in the LW. It's interesting and fun. Of course I just write for fun.

That's my nickels worth

I agree with the above and am new to writing here. I never thought of couples being posted within the group catagory, thanks.
Still.....anyway you slice it this is porn...

The best advice that I can offer you is is a mock-Latin aphorism: 'Illegitimi non carborundum.'

I've got two. One is twist ending where it starts out looking like a cheating story, but turns out to be a husband/wife role-play. That one has 19 positive comments and two negative ( both of which are generic "you suck, my dog writes better" type ) 4.40, 259 votes, 47176 views.

The second is a true cheating wife with a weak husband. It looks as if he's going to wimp out, but in the end, he walks away from the marriage. There's revenge against the cheater, but it's not the husband. The guy she was cheating with and the girl he was cheating on her with are the revenging party. That one has 23 positive comments. 5 comments are typical LW negative fare from pretty much every camp. One is an error correction that gives no other information, and is negative in tone -- but completely right.

Which reminds me that I've never corrected that with an edit...

Four are a mixed bag... It's hard to say whether they're positive or negative.

4.61, 284 votes, 80586 views.

Overall, my comments have been overwhelmingly positive in the category. Doesn't change the mean, though. LW is a shark pit, and I was just lucky enough to scramble out with most of my extremities intact :p
