Ball gag beginner

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to BDSM and am keen to try a ball gag. I have seen both leather and plastic ones for sale, but am concerned as I have heard that they can damage your teeth. I'd prefer to avoid any awkward dentists visits..
Does any body have any advice on ball gags for beginners? Has any body experienced problems with them, or can put my mind at ease?

Only get very soft material that doesn't stress the teeth when you bite down. Ring gags are not that good on teeth, or anything metal or hard plastic, or even metal that is covered with rubber. There are ring gags that are just metal rings that are covered with leather...bad. There are ring gags that are just metal covered with rubber...bad. Ball gags that have a bar going through the ball, usually wood or metal and covered with rubber...bad.

Just use your common sense. You are going to want to bite down on whatever material the gag is made of. Don't get something that requires the teeth to rest on a hard material.

When I was [censored] they wouldn't let me in the porn shops, so I went to Sports World and got a whiffle ball. It's like a golf ball filled with holes so you can practice indoors and it won't punch out the walls and stuff.

Anyway, you put a shoelace through the holes that are already there, and presto! A ball-gag with breathing holes! It's not as comfortable as the silicone jobs, but it works, and you don't have to go to a porn shop to get it!

Thanks for the advice! Am having difficulty finding a sex store that sells silicone gags though.. Have only seen leather and plastic so far. Maybe somebody could recommend a good website I could buy one from?

Beginner Ballgag Kit It's not silicone, but it is breathable, adjustable, and has multiple size balls.
