Van Canto has friggin ruined Battery for me

WTF?

LOL, that is pretty sad.

In a way I feel this mocking of the money whores Metallica is justice… for all. But then again I have a bias favoring them, One was the first song I ever learned to play and I can’t deny that I still love it. Just that feeling when you play that first real song all the way through, I won’t forget it.

I actually like Van Canto, in a weird sort of way. I like their cover of "Fear of the Dark" better than the original.

You can't beat it life though, especially in Rio

I quite like them, but normally i can keep artists separate.
In this case, though, all i could hear while i had metallica playing was that big gobbed freak going "batar-ee, ba-tareeeeeeeee"

There's an entire list of shit to do... and i want it all done right now. And preferably without my needing to do it.

His 50th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks.

I plan to bake him a surprise, elaborate, hand-decorated birthday cake.

No biggie unless you know that in my 43 years I have only ever baked one cake - and that was last weekend.

(If all else fails, I live a ten-min drive from a 24-hour hypermarket!)

Cakes are great and I'm sure you'll make him a fine one. But that Y chromosome means that what will really turn his crank involves fuel, gears, and massive amounts of force applied to a test of the laws of physics. Unless he's already a pilot, I suggest arranging for him to get demonstration flying lesson with a flight instructor. He'll spend a glorious half hour or so flaunting the law of gravity and will smile for a month. After that you could give him a pair of Hostess Twinkies and he would think you the finest baker in the universe.

Ha ha MWY, he's already a pilot! (He learned to fly a few years ago when living in the USA, as it's prohibitively expensive over here.)

SO it'll have to be one helluva cake, eh?!

Why is my whole family bitchy, cranky, defensive and grumpy???

Uggh...we are alive and we have each. Relax be happy. We all love each other, remember? Let's all try to be kind to each other.

jeez, it's bad when I look forward to going to work to get away from hubby and kids. :(

Will he think I'm trying to kill him?!

Actually, as a rock-climber and pilot, I think he does enjoy being up in the air with an element of risk, so you may be onto something there...

I did the flying lesson thing for my 50th and my brother in law did a parachute jump. I prefer to stay inside working planes but that's just my little peccadillo.

No, not THAT peccadillo....it's not so small. ;)

I saw the film '127 Hours' last weekend.

I swear, I felt like I was stuck in the cinema for the whole 127 hours. What a dull film. Criminal under-use of the amazing cinematic potential of the landscape; criminal under-development of the full-of-potential psychological element of the story.

Danny Boyle, you can do better than this!

We loved it. Also saw an interview this evening about how it all came together and the input from the real person whose story it was. Like everyone said, most people would have thrown it in the bin because it is very difficult to make a successful movie around one person, unable to move location etc. throughout most of the movie....just the sort of thing Danny Boyle loves. I thought it created that feeling of being in the position wonderfully and highlighted just how incredible he was to keep his head together enough to survive at any cost. Nice to know he has continued his love of hiking and climbing and continues to do just that, and that he has found someone to build a life and family with.

Ugh.

Today is one of those days where I want the children safely tucked away with someone who can handle them so I can be blissfully naked and dozing on a warm, soft bed with another blissfully naked person spooning me from behind, dozing, with their hand tucked safely between my legs.

I need to find a screen name for when I make another Fet profile. Probably something that involves chy. Maybe. I like the chy.

Any suggestions?
