Biden says gay marriage 'inevitable'

You're right, Weinberg just invented the word - what the fuck does he know?

Lol, give it up.

I like Webster's definition. It's more accurate without unprovable frills. :D

(Let's see if you explode from not being able to get everyone to knuckle under to you.)

Boom, I'm finished, take it up with Weinberg.

I've already answered that. Why would I do that? I'm comfortable with the Webster's definition, which more accurately parses the root words given without fanciful frills. :D :D

This why dems lost the house, you fuckers will squabble endlessly over the pettiest minutiae.

Thank god I didn't commit any glaring typographical errors, I'd have been cast to the outer ring of hell, and my seed cursed, yea unto the Seventh generation.

"you fuckers?" Don't look now, but you are the one who has to be the only one in the room on this. Way up the line I agreed you had a good source agreeing with you and that you could think anything you like. I just said I had an authoritative source that agreed with how I wanted to define the word. You're the squabbler here, the one who can't stand to have anyone think anything you don't approve of. I'm just pulling on your leg to see how long you'll go on not tolerating disagreement over something that doesn't mean crap. I'd say that's a Republican-like stance which has kept Congress from getting anything done in recent years. :D

I think you should create your own handle and stop posting as Amy. She didn't make PMS references in debates.

Go fuck yourself, Stella. First of all, I'M Amy.

Second of all, DON'T try to tell me what MY wife did or did not do!

If she had seen two guys bitch slapping at each other like a couple of drunk sorority sisters, fighting over some college jock, then she would have laughed her ass off.

BTW, who the hell named you Hall Monitor?

At what point did you agree I was right? I musta missed that amidst all the snarky comments, adolescent sarcasm and condescending tut tutting.

That's Two pages of it, wanna go for Three?

Merry Christmas - though I agree that SB would likely have approved - might even have considered it unnecessarily diplomatic. :D

Allright, I'll give you credit for the retraction, even if it was a bit back-handed, Happy Solstice, or whatever you gay fuckers celebrate when you aren't plotting the overthrow of all that is good and wholesome.

She's self-anointed, Amy. :catroar:

WCK, that's well said.:rose: If we are allowed to die for our country, we should be allowed to live a whole life in our country....

I betcha though that these financial issues are going to make the final, actual, practical, repeal of DADT take a verrryyyy..... loooong..... tiiiime..... NOT because of troops safety or cohesion or anything like that, but because it will cost the government more money.

I agree that the financial issues are going to take awhile, but the legal ramifications will take YEARS to sink in.

The legal implications are going to be so far reaching. In this country, the ONLY institution older than the government itself is the military. The military has over 200 years of tradition and policies in place. Military law is interwoven with the feds, and always has federal government approval.

Up until now, the Federal Government hasn't gotten directly involved in gay marriage other than a politician on the stump. The repeal of DADT will change that. It will now force the government to acknowledge that there is now a level of inequality within it's largest institution. The government is bound by it's own laws to right acknowledged inequalities.

Most people don't know this, but there is a branch within the military called EOT. (Equal Opportunity and Treatment). Their function is EXACTLY what you think it is. When a military member complains that they can't be stationed with their partner because they don't qualify for joint spouse, the complaint will start in the local EOT office. EOT sends it up the chain saying that the policy isn't fair to members. Thus the official snowball is officially rolling.

Kind of disassociated from this conversation, but it's going to be REALLY interesting when this first case comes up:

Combat platoon in a hot war zone. The platoon sergeant orders the openly gay private to "rush the machine gun nest". Private survives the mission, then files charges against the sergeant of gay prejudice for sending the openly gay man on the mission, but not any of the other 11 privates in the platoon that are straight.

Yes, that case will eventually come up. Its outcome will set one of the most wide ranging precedents in the history of the military. Literally, the whole world will be watching that case.

Most people are happy about the repeal NOW, but haven't really thought about what it means for the future. I honestly think the repeal will be single biggest legal decision of the last several decades. Much bigger and far reaching than Roe v Wade. Roe v Wade covered one small area of a womans reproductive freedom. Repeal of DADT will cover how every unit in the military does it's business, then trickle over into how the federal government itself looks at things.

I won't be shocked one bit if it takes at least 10 years for all of the dust to settle from this one. IMO it truly is step one into a whole new world.

Sergeants don't order privates to rush a machine gun nest alone. Isn't done. The squad sergeant is first among equals and his/her (depending on the unit) first responsibility is to take care of the unit. American soldiers are not cannon fodder. Yes, this will take a while to sort out fully but it won't be because of any such far fetched situation.

I figure two decades, actually. And yeah.

Obviously she couldn't name herself Hall Monitor because you had already appointed yourself that with your Midol post.

As I posted, you're sorely in need of the Midol yourself. :D

Merry Christmas, you frenzied zealot very much apparent ghost from the past. :)

Have trouble understanding what you read? I didn't post you were right (in my view). I posted:

"You can do as you please, of course. You did, in fact, come up with a good source for your assertion."

That matches what you quoted from my post (and that gave you a hell of a lot more space to have your opinions than you've given me):

"Way up the line I agreed you had a good source agreeing with you and that you could think anything you like."

Do try to keep up if you can't just walk away from it.

You need to read more memoirs of combat.
