Having trouble figuring out why California is in the shitter?

It's going to have to get into the top five to pay the bills.
That's a really lame point.

Because the longer your post the more likely you are to be right.

California is in the shitter because running America is damned expensive. We pay over three hundred BILLION in taxes to the federal government California's debt and deficiet combined are in the neighborhood of 20 billion. We don't need help. We need to stop carrying the lazy weak poor Americans that depend on us and slap us around. (note if you're from New York or Texas your carrying your load to) the rest of you, the proper term is thank you.

how many move into California?

Depends on the year but roughly 180k less than move out of California. Hardly a mass exodus when you're talking about a state with millions of people. They aren't moving out of California because of our restrictive laws, they're moving out because it's getting increasingly expensive to live here and a lot of what we're losing is our retired folk. A pension of 100k per year you're not doing badly but you're still middle class. You can move most anyplace else in the nation and live like a fucking king off that.

Just another Republican stupid-mongering thread.

Look how many agencies there are!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Look how many words are in this speech!~!! ZOMG!! :eek::eek:

Look how many pages are in this legislation!!!! :caning:

For stupid people (aka the Republican base), words must be short, credentials must not be stated, and everything must be packaged into one-liners.

how many move into California?

It's a net migration out per week of 5,000.
The parents of roughly 40 percent of the Hispanic students can't vote, so the official population probably lags behind the real figure.

People are fleeing New York as well.....same stuff happening there. Good time to invest in Oklahoma City real estate....

So I wonder if the line is shorter at Pinks off Melrose....I refuse to wait in a line around the block for a damn hotdog....

Probably there'd be more efficiency in states like California and Texas if they didn't make an effort to organize the state. Usually disorganized clusterfucks work perfectly well.

Yes, without the following agencies California would be a disorganized clusterfuck. I wouldn't dream of living in a state that didn't have a biodiversity council.
* California Allocation Board
* California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority
* California Animal Health and Food Safety Services
* California Anti-Terrorism Information Center
* California Apprenticeship Council
* California Arbitration Certification Program
* California Architects Board
* California Area VI Developmental Disabilities Board
* California Arts Council
* California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus
* California Assembly Democratic Caucus
* California Assembly Republican Caucus
* California Athletic Commission
* California Attorney General
* California Bay Conservation and Development Commission
* California Bay-Delta Authority
* California Bay-Delta Office
* California Biodiversity Council

Certainly I could do without these two. There's your clusterfuck right there.

Here's your bullshit. Try a Google search for Scott Plotkin.

http://www.news10.net/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=87837

It would be nice if you could read.

Your statement:
"...Or, consider Scott Plotkin, who pulled down a state salary and bonus of $562,333 in 2009 with the California School Boards Association...."

The except from the article:

"...The California School Boards Association is a non-profit coalition representing more than 1,000 California school districts and county offices of education..."

Their website in case you're interested:
http://www.csba.org/AboutCSBA.aspx

This organization is not a California government department, division or in anyway part of the state government. It's a private non-profit for Christ sake. Yes tax payer money's support it, yes it's manned by many of your school personnel, but it is not part of the government. Check your list of agencies, it isn't there.

That's why he was pulling down the salary he was. And why he was getting such huge bonuses.

So trying to say he was a "State" worker (as you did) is total bullshit.

You want to to take someone to task for this little fiasco, hammer your school officials. They're suppose to be looking after how they spend your tax dollars and it doesn't appear they are doing to good a job of it.

Besides, if you dumb fucks down there are allowing your government officials to earn that kind of pay and bonuses, you deserve getting the shaft.

You think that the office of the Attorney General is unreasonable? :confused:

But seriously, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. So what if there's a biodiversity council? California has a massive wilderness, much of which is unique and fragile. Does this council cost much taxpayer money? What's their objective? Are they sucessful at it?

See? You're fucking clueless and just spouting off angry shit in the face of your own shocking ignorance.

He's in AZ, not CA.

I always laugh that this is Amurrka dammit and our CEO's work damn hard to get where they are, so we should stop trying to raise their taxes or lower their pay.

UNLESS they run a university or school district. Then that's just too much damned money.

I have no problem with the government paying a talented indiidual a whole lot of money in certain circumstances. If the State says "hey, we have a huge fucking mess and we can't seem to fix it. If you can come in and do a whole lot of shit to fix the system and save us a ton of taxpayer money, yeah we'll make you rich."

That way they'll have a shot at bagging an uber-talented individual who would otherwise go work in the private sector for the same pay. Making government jobs low-paying just gets you crappy, ineffective workers (who possibly can't cut it in the private sector) who just make government even more crappy and ineffective.

But then the state must be dilligent in holding this high-paying person's feet to the fire. And yes, bonus pay is the way to go rather than a large guaranteed salary. If they don't meet their benchmarks (ie saving taxpayer money), they miss out on pay day.

California's plight doesn't make me angry. It's clearly self-inflicted and the massive list of state agencies is just one symptom, state employee pay and benefits being another. Another would be onerous regulations.
If you're convinced all these boards and agencies are legitimate and actually contribute to the quality of life in California, good for you.

Do you think this is at all related to California being the most populous state? It's also physically very large and is incredibly multi-faceted socially, economically, and politically.

If California was a country, it would have the world's 8th-largest economy (some calculations have it 5th!). The economy of California isn't too much smaller than China's. If you think something like that should be simple to administer, well... that's your (unfounded) opinion.

That's where we differ. You believe someone in an official capacity should "run" everything. I think you could get rid of 90 percent of those boards and agencies and California would be a more prosperous place.

No, actually right here is where you make up shit that I never said.

If you think that eliminating a board or agency would be a good idea then you need to have some kind of data to back up that assertion. Perhaps eliminating something would be a good idea, maybe not. But the fact is that you don't know what these agencies are doing. Until you have some actual information, you're just engaging in more angry baseless bitching.

Just to illustrate your ignorant bitching, let's look at this Biodiversity Council.

The California Biodiversity Council (CBC) was formed in 1991 to improve coordination and cooperation between the various resource management and environmental protection organizations at federal, state, and local levels. Strengthening ties between local communities and governments has been a focus of the Council by way of promoting strong local leadership and encouraging comprehensive solutions to regional issues.

The Council was not created to independently establish new projects nor to become another bureaucracy. Rather, its purpose is to discuss, coordinate, and assist in developing strategies and complementary policies for conserving biodiversity. Members exchange information, resolve conflicts, and promote development of regional conservation practices.

The Council has 42 members, including 20 state agencies, 12 federal agencies, and 10 local governments. It is chaired by California Secretary for Resources Mike Chrisman and Bureau of Land Management California State Director Mike Pool.

The Council meets 2-3 times a year on issues relating to natural resource conservation in California.

It's a discussion group that meets only 2-3 times per year. It has zero employees and zero bureaucracy. Its goal is to help the government work better. That means taxpayer money is better-spent and possibly less-spent.

Information like this doesn't matter to you though. You look at things like this through your lens of blinding ignorance and bullshit partisan indoctination.
