What's with all the Arabic threads?

Are we being invaded?

Is this a terrorist attack?

Should I get my gun?

Does anyone know?

Is Starbucks...still serving? I need my coffee, before I defend myself and my country.

I'll be right back.

Adding the poster to your ignore list removes ALL those threads.

I think we're being invaded by the FBI.

I think a lot of crazy people swarm to erotica discussion boards.

Misnomer

There are no threads about Arabic here. Arabic is a language or a descriptor of a culture, not what he /she implies. Maybe the thread starter needs to learn some basic English first.:)

The threads are from a persistent Turkish (not "Arabic") source trying to get visitors to a video-porn site--and Og is incorrect in this instance as this poster keeps changing his name and reposting on this site over and over again. So even if you put his name on ignore and make his posts vanish, he and his posts will, alas, re-appear the next time he shows up under a different name.

Luckily, his posts are spam and get removed pretty quick.

All I know is while I was combing through the threads last night to fill a bout of insomnia, there was a thread posting every three minutes. I finally gave up, just because I was having to go to page two to find threads.

3113's statement above is correct. You can't stop the spam by using ignore.

But if you put the current spam poster on ignore - NOW, it cleans up the first page of the AH quickly. It will shrink to a few threads apart from the stickies, but the spam threads are not visible.

When the spam has been removed, you can take that poster off your ignore list.

What'm I doing wrong? I haven't seen any of this stuff.

It happened very quickly. The turkish spam threads were posted within minutes of each other, pushing every thread but turkish off page 1 of the AH. Several people reported the threads, which appeared on other parts of Lit as well. The poster went from zero to 100+ posts in less than an hour, all by starting new threads promoting off-site links.

It could be considered a deliberate attack on Literotica.

We have had similar actions (in Turkish) before. This one was different only because there were so many threads started in such a short time.

The OP posted at 6:37 am ET US (GMT-5), which is 11:37 am GMT/UK. Turkey is GMT+2, or 1:37 PM, meaning that the spammer, if operating from Turkey, was active around that time, mid-day-ish, his time. You, apparently are in OZ, GMT+10, where it would have been 9:37 PM.

I regularly hit here around 10AM-ish ET US, and have never seen this sort of spam, so the Lit clean-up is run sometime before that. Dunno how often they run the spam clean-up during the day/night, but apparently often enough that in the 12 hours I'm liable to hit the Lit BB 10am - 10pm (ok, - Midnight) ET US, I never see spambots at work like the OP did.

Hmmm. If the links are to porn sites then that means it meets STELLAs criteria for...PORN ON A PORN BOARD. The Turk musta taken her seriously.

They started posting to the AH at 2:30 am and kept posting every three minutes until I went to bed at 6am. It was a veritable blitz.

Seems they're back. At least this post about nothing at all will knock one down on the front page.
