as far as commerical interests go, he's dead on. i remember growing up in the southwest, and being forced to eat margarine, which, initially had to be sold as white! i never had butter in my first 20 years.
i take 5,000 IU vitmin D daily, AND I get into the sunlight. Even so, my blood tests show a moderate level of D.
I have to say though, that I have not felt the depressive effects of the winter as acutely year, so maybe it's working...
