Auroras over Norway...

Gorgeous. Thank you. Reminds us all how truly awesome this place we call home can be.

Last year, I watched a doco with Joanna Lumley (Joanna Lumley in the Land of the Northern Lights) on BBC and I was glued to it. What I loved so much was simply experiencing the whole journey with her. Hell, I think I might have even shed a tear when she first spotted the lights and welled up (and I've never actually seen them - lol). The lucky B (chuckles) even got to stay in the Ice Hotel which I'd initially seen in a separate documentary and which fascinated and overwhelmed me for different reasons. Lumley's doco is well-worth seeing if you ever get the chance.

Heading into the heart of winter ... just gorgeous, thanks again.

Breathtaking!

I was in Trondheim the summer of 2006, still almost 800 kilometers south of Tromsø. I didn't see the aurora borealis on that trip, but I have seen a similar display when I was in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Next summer, I'm planning a trip to Denali National Park. I hope the aurora is visible.

Witnessing displays like this certainly adjusts one's perspective about their place in the universe. Thanks for posting that link.

Seeing the Aurora Borealis is one of those 'must see's' on any aesthetic person's bucket list. We may have to do New Year's Eve in Spitzbergen, though, to have a really good chance.

Having spent many a days and nights up north, I've seen a few pretty ones.

But the last segment in that clip there was something out of the ordinary. G'damn.

Went to Bergen in '72 with hopes of seeing it. Unfortunately, it didn't appear for us.
