Over the counter medicines such as aspirins and heartburn remedies will soon require a prescription to buy.

Gold, silver, and other precious metals sales and purchases will be tracked by the new Obamacare law.

Prosthetic devices will be taxed.

Health care insurance premiums will increase. Mine already has. by 22%.

This is only the beginning. The full weight of Obamacare won't kick in until 2014.

Repeal, Repeal, Repeal, Repeal. Repeal.

We're seriously fucked unless Obama finds some money to pay the bills. And the fucking starts in January.

He could make a good start at getting the money eliminating the Department of Education and the EPA. Yeah, that would be a good start.

My Medicare pemiums didn't change yet, but my companion plan premiums increased by 69%. :( I pay three times as much out of pocket for meds too. :(

If you mean sales taxes on prosthetic devices, that is an individual state decision. Do you mean there will be federal excise tax on them?

ETA: The Congress being seated in Jan. won't be able to do anything about repeal, but I predict a Rep. member of the House will introduce a bill calling for repeal. The House will probably pass it, but the Senate might not. The purpose of the proposal will be to show how much support there is for repeal, because the members of both houses will get more mail etc. calling for repeal, and polls will show citizens being about two to one in favor of repeal.

That's strictly a prediction.

The costs of my Medicare supplemental insurance have increased by 30%! When I contacted them and asked why, I was told Medicare will cover less medical and drug costs beginning in 2011 and they would have to cover more.

Thanks for nothing Obozo.

Well, you know, hundreds of millions of dollars were cut from Medicare in order to spent on insuring ..? :(

Of course, this brings up a question. They say the reductions will be made up by eliminating waster and fraud. I wonder if Charlie Rangel will help with that. Anyhow, if they know where there is that much waste and fraud, whyhaven't they already eliminated it? If they don't know where to find it, how do they know there is that much?

I am sure there is plenty of waste and fraud, but why don't they find and elinminate it before cutting Medicare?

Anyhow:

The Medicare cut was to eliminate waste and fraud - that was money given to private insurers to administer the plan, which does not require outside administration. It was just a boondoggle for private insurers.

First, it will start as a 23% cut in payments to medical providers, which will result in a decrease in doctors accepting Medicare patients, or new Medicare patients. Second, I do not believe the rest of the reduction represents payments to private insurers to administer the programs, although some of it might be. Third, will the gov. be able to administer it at no cost? If you believe they will, I have some ocean front property in Idaho that might interest you.

ETA: I misspoke, or miswrote earlier. The cuts will be over 100 billion per year for the next ten years, not "hundred of millions" as I said earlier. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/sebelius-defends-medicare-cuts-health-care-law

The whole premise is nuts because geezers manifest chronic medical conditions in large numbers; IE, cancer and cardio-vascular-pulmonary diseases. Cutting Medicare isnt gonna make the problems go away. If anything the Boomers will swamp the system.

This is what is meant by rationing medical care. :( I haven't mentioned Death Panels. If they do come to pass for old people, they won't be called that; they will be called a triage system, or something fancier such as that.

Maybe you should just call them what they are: a GOP-led state legislature.

Thanks to a $1.5-billion budget deficit, Arizona has had to make some tough choices, including cuts to certain liver and heart transplants paid for by the state, according to NPR. Last spring, Arizona's GOP-led legislature instituted the cuts to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, the state's version of Medicaid. Sacrificing the life-saving procedures saves the state an estimated $4.5 million annually, or 0.3 percent of its present deficit.

In some cases, the state has chose to deny coverage for procedures that were already approved. Phoenix's KPHO 5, a CBS affiliate, reports that Francisco Felix, a Phoenix-area resident who is suffering from Hepatitis C, was actually in a hospital surgery room when doctors informed him that his liver transplant wouldn't be approved.
