The Authors' Hangout 2010 Halloween Contest Support Thread

Tell me, Habu, what did your mother do to you as a child for you to hate woman so that you cannot believe that I am a woman and continue to refer to me as Freddie, instead of by my real name, Susan?

I feel sorry for you.

Once again, those two E-books were real books published by Erotic Excursions and pulled by me because they could honestly account for sales revenues.

Is that all you have to discredit me? It's not working?

Not all of us want to publish. I'm happy for your success. I'm thrilled for you.

Yet, I'm a happy woman writing what I want whenever I want to write it. It's enjoyable not having to dance to anyone's song, but my own.

I don't need the few thousand dollars that you earn from writing your inferior books in a month. My publisher wanted me to write a book a month, too. Honestly, what kind of crappy book can you write in a month?

Honestly, how much can you possibly write about gay sex that hasn't been already and better written, Habu.

I'm having fun writing different stories in different categories. Thank God for the Survivor competition because it has made me a better writer.

Now, please, feel free to get on with your life and I do wish you would leave me the fuck alone, stop baiting me, stop using my name, just go write your queer books and blow yourself.

"Oh, and have a nice day."

Tell me, Habu, what did your mother do to you as a child for you to hate woman so that you cannot believe that I am a woman and continue to refer to me as Freddie, instead of by my real name, Susan?

Well, because you ARE Freddie and have been exposed as such by repeated proof--by multiple Lit. members. If you're not just playing with us on that, you've been dumb as a rock in your scheming about it. Your "my publisher wanted me to write a book a month" is even the exact same "why I don't write e-books" line that Freddie gives. How stupid can you be about not being able to separate your posting style and content?

But I can see why it sticks in your craw that I do manage to publish a book--and more--a month (33 so far this year. 11 for Selena's two publishing houses and 22 for Sabb's two publishing houses. Feel free to ask them. I actually live in the real, verifiable world). :D

Why is it so important for you to play this silly game?

Fascinating. I've actually got a story in the contest, and as far as I can see, you . . . don't.

Which in terms of posting to a Halloween Contest author's thread would mean . . .

So there's a rule now that people not submitting a story to the contest can't post to the contest threads?

From the first post on this thread:

Halloween
themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.
starts: October 1
closes: October 22
winners announced: October 29

(From the sticky Welcome Authors! Please Read)

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous contest support threads.

Please ignore the outrageous unsubstantiated claims; the moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth that occur in this thread over the contest and voting systems and concentrate on the benefits of writing contest entries. You can use the ignore function to remove those people who irritate you most from this or any thread.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Og

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. As usual there's a plug for my essay: Entering A Themed Literotica Contest. You will also find helpful advice from others in the How-To section of the stories listed on Literotica. Some of that advice is much more helpful than mine because after all I'm the instigator of the Last Place Contest.

Yep, sure says I can't post here because I didn't enter the contest. It's the SUPPORT thread. If readers want to come here to SUPPORT their favorite authors, they can. But according to you, they can't. Who's rolling their eyes now?

Of course, if readers come here now, all they'll see is the usual train wreck because as much as you'd like to try and call me out on my "yammering" to scouries, you're doing the same damned thing with andtheend.

What have you said to others before? Oh yeah, pot, meet kettle.

Nope. But it certainly doesn't make them the thread den mother, either. ;)

Whenever Freddie rolls out his little litany of jabs at me, I'm quite pleased to rub his nose in them. I don't go fishing for his little diatribes.

Tough if you don't like it.

You're right, of course. You've appointed that job to yourself.

Whenever Freddie rolls out his little litany of jabs at me, I'm quite pleased to rub his nose in them. I don't go fishing for his little diatribes.

Once again, pot, meet kettle. I see you're one of those who subscribes to the belief "it's okay for me, but not okay for you."

Tough if you don't like it.

Right back atcha there, sunshine.

Actually, you do go fishing for me to start trouble.

As usual, Ace you were the one who started this. You jumped in on my post to TxRad. You are the one who can't want to put his nose up my ass, as soon as I post to the board. You are the one with a problem with me and not the other way around.

Yet, if I was a 70-year-old gay man, who hates women, sitting at home in his underwear writing gay fucking stories, I'd be doing just what you're doing because I'd be bored to fucking death.

Do everyone a favor. Either get a pet, get a life, or fucking kill yourself.

"Asshole!"

Time out, already!
I wish this thread would go back to being about the contest.

Blah blah blah.. .. blah.

SO, how are the stories going?
Good votes? Good reads? Nice comments? :)

I am excited! I got to read several last night. Woo!
Expect for the fact that some of them didn't give me the option to vote...?
So I'm gonna go back through and see if I can do so now. :)

My story has been submitted! Yay! Seven hundred seventy-five words with a twist.

EmeraldKitten,

I'm having so much fun reading the contest entries! I think I've read, voted, and commented on all, but a handful. Those who have posted more than one story, I sometimes only manage to comment on one. More go up each day and I have hard time keeping up.

I had another story to submit, but I think I'll just post it as a regular story, instead of contest. It's rather short and we're short on time. I haven't edited it yet either. A reader challenged me to describe a season dessert to him, after I had eaten the dessert in honor of his flattering comment on ~Pumpkin Pie Passion~. It turned out to be 3 pages (which on here would be about 1). I have a hard time writing LESS than 10 pages, so it was a nice challenge for myself. There is the potential for expansion as well.

I'm pleased as pumpkin punch with how things are going, especially considering my stories are in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Non-Human categories. Getting great feedback: positive and negative. I'm pleasantly surprised by ~Enlightened By Darkness~. I didn't expect the reads and votes to go as far as they have, mainly because of my disabled heroine. A lot of people are into cookie cutter looks. My girl has substance and a back bone (even if she can't really feel that back bone). It's good to know others out there appreciate something real. :)

How about you?

((Well, I thought it had been just a wee bit too quiet around here lately. *shrugs, looking up at the drama*))

Glynndah,

Can't wait to read it, especially because it is all-ages-friendly. It will be a nice treat :) I loved "Tango with a Vampire!" I did comment on a few of your stories, but that was back when my comments were doing a disappearing act. I will have to go back and re-comment.

Oh, thank you! I love getting comments! And now that I've finished my story and submitted it, I'll be able to return the favor.

A  from the good little witch.

Scouries A.I.R. 2010 Halloween Story Contest Entry
[/size]

18,000+ Words!!!!

And I only turned to this story when I’d written 12,000 words on my intended Halloween entry and then realized I still had thousands of words to go and would never finish it on time. So I hijacked this one that I thought was almost finished and only needed a little Halloweening applied to it.

Yeah right! Days and thousands of words later and it still wasn’t finished. Finally this afternoon, after working all night, I wrote THE END.

And then when I went to submit it at 4:27 p.m. I found I couldn’t access my account. These changes that MANU :D brought in still have a few glitches in them. And then, when I finally got to my submissions page and had done all the things you have to do I got one final surprise. The last paragraph of the story, THE END, and my begging for votes had slipped onto a sixth bloody page. So, on the fly, I had to cut three full paragraphs from the story right on the submissions page. I just hope I didn’t cut out the scene where the big pumpkins are…

Let me guess. Is it, gees, I don't know, an incest story. I can't wait to read it.

Is it a Mommy or a Daddy story? A son or a daughter story?

Maybe it's time you tried writing something in one of the other 34 categories. I know it's a stretch, but I think you could do it.

Gotcha, Freddie--again. :D

Hey,

I have a quick question for everyone who writes under several names. How come? I understand the need for a psuedonym, espeically with the genre we write in. But, do these other names give you the freedom to explore other aspects of erotica and different categories; allowing you to show other facets of your dirty minds? Or is there some hidden reason, beyond that? Curious!

Finally finished my story, off to submit it. 3,900 words of vampire romance. Decidedly NOT what I set out to write.

At one cut, I write under one name for mainstream work and another for erotica. In terms of marketing, I trust you see the wisdom of that.

In another cut, my pen names separate the markets I write to. I even use female names to particular types of markets.

What it gives me is clear access to entirely divergent markets.

I write under seven different pen names (thus far).

On the basis of what I have posted here, having Freddie keep saying I write only GM under sr71plt (which anyone who checks can see is a lie--and that he knows it is) is pretty amusing. Sr71plt and habu are the pen names I reserve mostly for GM. I've written far more straight works than Freddie has under any of his alts under the pen names I use for straight material.

MagicaPractica,

Nice, congrats on finishing! Ah well, when the muse leads us astray, sometimes the best thing we can do is follow :)

Sr,

SEVEN?! Holy crow! Thanks for your explanation. I can see where it might be safer and more lucrative. But confuzzling as well! How do you keep them all straight: espeically when it comes to readers/fans/feedback? So, does anyone know the true you?
