Still one more step to go, but there you are.
A Miami appeals court ruled Wednesday that Florida's ban on gays adopting is unconstitutional and affirmed the controversial adoption of two foster children by a gay North Miami couple. The unanimous 3-0 decision deals a critical blow to Florida's 33-year-old law banning adoption by gay men and lesbians, and most likely sends the case to Florida's highest court for resolution.

``Given a total ban on adoption by homosexual persons, one might expect that this reflected a legislative judgment that homosexual persons are, as a group, unfit to be parents,'' the opinion states. ``No one in this case has made, or even hinted at, any such argument.

``To the contrary, the parties agree `that gay people and heterosexuals make equally good parents.' ''

May I request a moratorium on even the good-news political topics?

As I have opined-- and some people have agreed with me-- there are thousands of places where politics is the topic, and only a very few that talk about erotica, connectedness, and writing.

We are beginning to see newbies post here again with writing interests, as opposed to newbies coming here to argue politics... the balance just might be tipping back to the forum's original intent.

Lit does need a politics forum.

here's another one!

[The Author's Hangout is for authorly/writing discussions started by Literotica authors. This thread would be better placed in the GBLT Chatter forum. Thanks for understanding! - SW Admin]

Yeah... big and bolded doesn't make you official anything except an official asswipe. Just ask Trysail.

You're right.

I love how Box shows the porn and bring this place back to its proper focus.

All the same, I'm very pro-gay rights, including gay marriage and gay adoption.

I am too, and believe there should be no outright ban on gay adoption. At the same time, if a gay or lesbian person or couple wants to adopt a young child and one of them has a history of pedophilia, that should disqualify him or them permanently. Of course, the same thing should apply to a straight person or couple.

Being about gay rights, this is not really a political thread. However:

I just like to show porn.

There can be laws against pedophiles adopting children period. They don't have to be separate laws for gay pedophiles and straight pedophiles.

In fact most pedophiles are straight men not gay, as you know very very well. In the interest of common sense and mutual goodwill, pedophile is NOT the first word you should be saying when you talk about gay couples adopting. As you also know very very well.

Oh, I agree. We have no disdagreement on this question, but I like to cover all parts of an issue. I'm sure there are laws against pedophiles adopting children, even those who are already their stepchildren, but some of the laws may need to be rewritten to cover gay adoption also.

ETA: The first thing I said in my previous post is that there should be no outright ban on gay adoption. Having said that, I added the possible qualifier.

Why did I start here two years ago?

To get help with writing. I did receive assistance initially, but moved to the editors forum after a short time. I haven't posted here in months and poked my head in here today because of a holiday.

As someone trying to hone my shaky grip on this craft, serious writing discussions would be cool. They may be taking place here, but as I said, I quit coming because of all the rhetoric.

No matter what, I don't think this forum will change--it's too active--attracts too much traffic. Money is the bottom line at Literotica (not blaming the owners--it's their site--they can do as they wish). Money=traffic=revenue.

Which was unnecessary.

I second that motion.
Keep the Politics out of the AH, Please.
