I'm being really picky here, but a hat normally has a full brim, all the way around. A cap may have a brim only in the front or no brim at all. What you're wearing is a cap.

I've been accused of being mad as a hatter on many occasions.

As for hats, I wore a couple today.

Boonie Hat while out on the beach.

Skid Lid while out riding. (Not to mention the Do-Rag underneath it.)

Baseball Cap while driving. (Brim foreward thank you very much.)
