How do you know what Jesus would have wanted?

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?

You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye"

(Matthew 7.1-5 ESV)

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you"
(Matthew 5.43-45 ESV)

"So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."
(Matthew 7.12 ESV)

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."
(Matthew 22.37-40 ESV)

Take the log out of your eye, Vette! :D

well, yeah

And YOU call me clueless?

The article was to point out the hypocrisy of condemning one faction while totallying disregarding the greater offender of the charge.

BTW, reposted articles are not plagerism, nor stolen.

cite your sources, limit the amount shown to an 'excerpt' and provide the link to the article/source material and no one will shout plagiarism or theft. not to do so is disingenuous, or ignorant.

Then there's Jesus himself telling his disciples that of they don't have a sword to sell their garment and buy one. I guess he was a bit off message there eh?

well armed naked people rock?

not entirely - just a matter of 2 windows subject to planning reconsideration, as the article you linked states:

trust me, that will later prove to be important. :D (it had to be quoted on the 'net somewhere)

don't bother attempting to argue semantics with me, vette. you either 'get' the message or you don't. context is everything.

personally, i believe all holy books are the products of men, writers, and their 'quoting' of any godhead's words an enterprise in imagination and, sometimes, the very best of intentions. sometimes. most times i see it more as a matter of manipulation of power.

as it happens, i trust you on this. i was playing devil's advocate. the problematic windows buy a delay; there will be behind the door talks to see which next move is the best to make - and that will depend upon political issues rather than the feelings of local residents.

it's a bit like a bargaining chip! if things turn too nasty, it'll 'prove to be the sticking point' and the building may be relocated.

to be honest, i think the local residents ought to have more say about the building's location since it affects their lives. and yes, i said the building, because that is all it is - a building.

"You stupid gullible humans are WAY too easy to fuck with your minds over religion. I'm pullin' y'all's strings like Howdy Doody time. Give me a fuckin' challenge before I roll up out of R'lyeh, already!" — Cthulhu, via e-mail

Cthulhu doesn't sound like that! He has an educated, formal New England diction like Mr. H.P. Lovecraft!

You make him sound like a cracker.

well said.

it goes much deeper though, that council are seeking to sell a war memorial for pennies, to a company who 'propose' to build a sports stadium on it. the ground cannot take a stadium (its chemically contaminated to a depth of 100 feet) and so is basically a get rich quick scheme, which will now fall at the planning consent stage (if it gets that far). oh happy day.

that's interesting. fucking bastards.

i suggest a multi-denominational building on the site (if they build anything at all; i'd prefer a remembrance garden, beautiful, spiritual, and a place for religion-less peaceful contemplation. no stalls offering overpriced refreshments or tokens); a place to remember, reflect, and pray if that's your thing.

we are going for a non denominational marker. its too small for a serious building, since it equates to 50% of the green space in the ward.

we will win.

good luck with that.

ok, off watching the doc about the plane the passengers downed. :rose:

And why hasn't the GOP spoken out against radical Christian Cleric (and civil war mustache collector) Terry Jones?

I am in favor of him doing whatever the hell he chooses to do with the Quoran. Just like I would if he were burning Bibles or copys of Moby Dick.

As long as nobody tries to pass a law that says he can or can't I'm good to go.

Will the Muslims get mad? I don't give a shit.
Will the Catholics get mad? Ditto
Will the president get mad? Same here.
Will Killswitch and the other libs get mad? If you've been paying attention...

The story doesn't even deserve recognition.

This is why I find it objectionable when one uses the very words and concepts they admittedly don't place too much value on to specifically put another in their "place".

They seem to have no problem declaring these words and concepts powerless, and they seem to have no problem using these same words and concepts for their personal intention(s).

Whatz up wit dat?

It certainly does seem like a manipulation game...

The Koran burning has been stopped.
The terrorists have won.

No. Common sense and tolerance won. When common sense and tolerance win, terrorism always loses, because terrorism depends on people forsaking common sense and tolerance.

Do they support the burning of the Islamic Holy book?
I must say that I do support the burning of ridiculous stupid whiney ignorant racist bitches like you on 9/11.

How would that be?
