Dominatrix Acquitted in Bondage Death

A dominatrix was acquitted of manslaughter Monday in the death of a man who prosecutors say suffered a heart attack while strapped to a replica of a medieval rack.

Barbara Asher, a 56-year-old woman who called herself Mistress Lauren M, was also cleared of dismemberment.

Prosecutors said that 53-year-old Michael Lord suffered a heart attack in 2000 during a bondage session in a "dungeon" in Asher's condominium and that Asher did nothing to help him for five minutes for fear authorities would find out about her business.

Asher had her boyfriend chop up the body of the 275-pound retired telephone company worker, and they dumped it behind a restaurant in Maine, prosecutors said. His remains have never been found.

Prosecutors said Asher confessed to police, but the alleged confession was not taped, and investigators testified they did not save their notes.

Asher's lawyer, Stephanie Page, said there was nothing to prove Lord was even dead — no body, no blood, no DNA.

During his closing argument to the jury, prosecutor Robert Nelson put on a black leather mask with a zippered mouth opening and re-enacted the bondage session. With both hands, he reached back and clutched the top of a blackboard as if strapped to the rack. Then he hung his head as if dead.

Asher's lawyer objected, and the judge agreed.

"That's enough Mr. Nelson," Judge Charles Grabau said. "Thank you for your demonstration."

Outstanding...I had thought often of her.

Wow. If she did do it than I want to know where she lives so that I never move there. It's clear the police and prosecution are utterly incompetant.

"We don't have notes or a video of the confession?"

?!?!?!!!

if they want you they'll fuck you over, I guess.

Even if they did have a video taped confession they'd have a hard time convicting if she recanted. There doesn't appear to be any evidence at all other than her own words. If they would make stupidity a capital crime, they could just execute her for confessing, whether or not the guy's dead.

I don't think anyone should be convicted in cases where they can't even prove the 'victim' is dead.

And as for confessions, they're almost as unreliable as eyewitness testimony.

I there is no corpus delicti, there is no basis for a trial. I am surprised they went this far in the first place.

The police said there was a confession. They had nothing to produce. This seems to be a very wierd case. I read several stories. I know very little about this. But it seems the police had a "story" and brought charges on that basis. Without a confession they have no evidence, and they couldn't produce the alleged confession. So what evidence is there that any of this actually happened?

Amazing job on the jury's decision. I'm surprised they didn't convict her on lasciviousness. Good job, you really can't or shouldn't convict without proof of death unless the evidence is overwhelming. I watch my fair share of Law & Order...hehe, but it's good to know that the court system isn't completely biast of those not of the vanilla...

Death by dominatrix

The Associated Press photograph of Barbara Asher shows a strikingly pretty, long-haired blonde.

"Strikingly" is a good adjective to apply to her profession. For she is a dominatrix in Dedham, in the sexual wilds of Massachusetts.

Barbara Asher is actually 56 years old. But in that AP photograph, she looks much, much younger.

She was acquitted on charges of death and dismemberment.

Her customer, 53-year-old Michael Lord, suffered a fatal heart attack while he was strapped by Ms. Asher (known professionally as "Mistress Lauren M.") to a replica of a medieval torture rack.

This took place in 2000 during a bondage session in a "dungeon" in Ms. Asher's condominium.

Prosecutors said she did nothing to help Mr. Lord (the masochist) for five minutes – for fear that authorities would find out about her business.

The AP cites reports that this dominatrix, when her customer died, had her boyfriend chop up the 275-pound body of her customer and then dump these remains behind a restaurant in Maine.

The dominatrix's attorney, Stephanie Page, declared that "there was nothing to prove that Mr. Lord was dead – no body, no blood, no DNA."

Which inevitably poses a further question: Did they dump this body, or bury it?

The details suggest that the dumped corpse may have been carried away by animals – or even by cannibals.

MORAL: Don't mess around with the S&M set in Dedham, Mass.

I was rolling around looking at old threads and came across this one.

I was a client of Lauren M. She had two separate locations in Quincy, MA when I was seeing her. Both were very high end locations with the second one being in a very exclusive location. Each condo was set up strictly for business and had multiple rooms for different aspects of her domination. She did not operate on the cheap. I enjoyed my sessions with her very much. She brought a certain attitude that provoked an intensity of reaction from me that I have seldom achieved with anyone else.

I don't know what happened that night with Mr. Lord.

She was in Rhode Island for awhile as Lady Kathleen. I spoke with her on the telephone in 2008 but have not seen her since she left Boston.

Fox News ran a story on her getting a massage license in February.

Hmmmm.....Hope no one had the special that week.

Rich

I smell wealthy (white) clients and a high priced lawyer.

No way somebody with a tan and a public defender gets away with this in the Great Protestant State.

She came from money and also had a good position with a large investment house. I was a client and yes I am white but far from wealthy.

Bet you the Judge was a customer and the jury all got freebies.

Nah, I think they were all laughing themselves silly over the impressions done by the prosecutor.

Yeah, that was sort of the prosecutor's way of saying the cops fucked him on this case.

Still it's a god damned shame she's going to walk on the dismemberment charge and the neglegence charge they could have slapped on her as well. Might have managed to get manslaughter to stick on the negligence.

But oh well, yet another criminal walks.

They didn't find a body, or any traces of it. Not even DNA (according to the report).

I imagine it's impossible to convict someone for any sort of "dismemberment charge" or manslaugher without any a body or any evidence.
