Writing when aroused?

What do you think is a better strategy? Writing while extremely horny or making sure to write with a fairly clear head?

Usually when I begin writing erotica, I get very aroused at the content. I always wonder if I should relive myself or if that would interrupt the flow of erotic thoughts.

What are your thoughts?

I've wrassled with this very issue, and I think I have the solution.

For me, I've found that it is best to write while as horny as possible, and then to go back and edit once the beast has been tamed (so to speak). The first activity requires creativity and synthesis; the second requires discipline and analysis. I can't guarantee it will work for everyone, but it works for me........Carney

Aroused is better with me. Not a full-in-the-act arousal, but a state of suspended arousal, I guess.

When I'm coming into this state (when it isn't someone else that's involved in it), there's already a story there ready to write. And if I have the time to do it then, I can sit right down and not be aware of the outside world again until the story is written--and it's usually written extremely fast under those conditions. I can knock off a full story from only a loose idea what the story is going to be about to finished piece in three hours and a novella from inception, including review, in three days in this state--although doing the minimal other chores I usually have to do around the "estate" as well.

And if I find I have time to sit down and write a story when the "story is coming" arousal isn't already there, I usually drift into that state quickly.

I sometimes work to music--but I only hear it as I'm starting and then after I'm done writing the story.

I agree. Ride the tiger while it's there to get the most intense scenes with vivid descriptions but always go back and edit later. I'm always surprised at how many typos I made and words I missed.

When I wrote my first story, Being Snippy, I was arousing myself as I wrote it.

I found it weird, but it was just fun to write that way.

I write when I have something extremly arousing in mind, that I've thought of earlier. Then later infront of the computer, when I feel like I'm in the mood to write, I like to be slightly aroused. It defiently makes a big difference.

I mean, if you don't get aroused by your own work, who will?

If I get horny while I'm working on a story (which happens more often than not, I must be doing something right!), i have to stop for a quick break or I will never get the piece finished. I'll just keep staring at the clock, my word count, and fidgeting until I give in and get off. Then, I get back to work with a clear head.

I usually have the story worked out in my head first, and I'm aroused while I'm working it out. Then I write the story calmly, and can usually finish it it one sitting.

I don't think there is any "best" way to write, just as long as you write.

I usually am aroused when I'm working out the "skeleton" of the story, when I decide who's going to do what, and with which, and to whom. After that's more or less in place and I'm clear-headed again, I add the details of character, plot, and environment. Then I put the story away for a few days.

When I return to it, I get myself hard and re-read the story. That helps me identify the parts that aren't working erotically. If I can sustain my erection easily without a lot of revisions, I know I'm on the right track. If not, I'll re-write and put the story away again for a while.

Try it a bunch of different ways, and see what works for you. You have to decide how to harness that arousal, and make it work for you. It's just part of the job.

I like to work out the story structure. I reflect on theme. Will this be a lesbian, gay, or straight story or a bit of all of the above? Will this be a story about a lone survivor in a world rampaged by flesh eating zombies or a group of survivors or something else? If so, how will he or she survive? Are they bunkered in or will they be nomadic? Will they have a pet for companionship of exist absolutely alone? What kind of weaponry do they possess? What kind of fighting skills? What is their end game? Are they looking for other normal humans or are they just living to live? What kind of personality do they have? Are they grouchy and antisocial or are they dying of loneliness? Then I get into what the protagonist(s) looks like.. What are their demographics..age, gender, race, orientation, disability, etcetera? Are they attractive, average, or unattractive? Are they prejudiced or liberal and so forth?

Through this process, various scenarios come to me to ponder... I can develop plot twists this way. For instance, if there is a lonely, homophobic woman bunkered in the woods after the world is seized by some deadly virus that turns almost everyone into flesh eating zombies, she could be forced to reconsider her stance about, say....lesbians, should a beautiful lesbian come pounding on her door one night seeking refuge. At that point in the story's construction, there are now plenty of opportunities to insert sexual encounters. I actually can write sexual content without feeling aroused, oddly enough. I try not to write thinking that sex is the end, but, a means to an end. For the erotic horror stories that I plan to write for Literotica publication, I want the 'end' to be scary, intense, and thought provoking.

I am the same way. I like to tease myself and get a little aroused before I start. (For instance, I'll put on some nipple clamps as I rough out the story.) I feel that the more I'm teased, the more I'll want my characters to be teased, too. If I end up getting too aroused, then I just take care of myself until the heat subsides, then resume writing.

I don't think I could write erotica without being at least a little aroused.

Now excuse me while I find those clamps. ;-)

I tried writing aroused but I kept knocking the keyboard off the desk.

I was typing to hard and fast.

What did you think I was talking about? Perverts.

JB, you're an idiot and posts like this prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Are you so fucking old that you've forgotten what fun is?

Dear Reader,

I think I touched a nerve!

Touched is a good word for you.

And no, you didn't touch a nerve. You're still an idiot who has to rain on everyone else's parade because you never had one. I only feel sorry for you.

Dear Reader,

Maybe he'll tell us a little about his long, lonely nights washing dishes on the oil rig.
