I can't be the only one here who had to pause it at least twice in order to go jack off.

That would be a little difficult since I saw it in the theater. ;)

Was a great movie though.

I had no idea this was a movie! You've no idea how excited I got.

But I dog-eared one or two scenes for a bit of re-reading, if that's similar enough.

Ha, no, I'm sure there are others.

I didn't find the actress playing Lisbeth attractive. That is, I think Rapace is lovely when she looks like this, but not the way she presented in the film.

However, I did enjoy the reaction of the attractive woman sitting next to me in the theater. She was visibly upset by the guardian scenes, trying to maintain her composure but subtly squirming nevertheless.

So I guess you could say I found parts of the film delicious, but indirectly so.

I am the guardian. That's me in a nutshell, except that I'm not a sociopath.

I even thought her revenge was oddly erotic and romantic, although that's not really my trip.

Those two had far more chemistry than her and the guy with the bad skin.

I haven't seen it. Anyone mind telling me what its about/what's so inspiring in it?

Not sure chemistry is the word I'd use, but I definitely agree that the guardian/Lisbeth scenes were dynamic, whereas the Blomkvist/Lisbeth scenes fell flat.

I think that's supposed to be a reflection of Lisbeth's psychology more than anything else. She knows how to deal with aggression and rage, but not more tender emotions.

More is revealed about the guardian in the books, which I recommend highly. I'd be interested to know if you can still relate to the character after reading them. My guess is no.

I just relate to him psychosexually. I can't imagine anything more stimulating than having a young girl in my power like that. Her hating me would make it perfect.

The film is based on the first of 3 books by Steig Larsson. It is reasonably faithful to the book, with a few plot changes, but the book is more interesting in terms of character development and depth of story.

The broad plot of the film involves a search for a female who has been missing for roughly 40 years. A journalist tries to solve the mystery, and is aided by a young woman named Lisbeth.

There are nonconsensual SM events portrayed at various points throughout the film.

That's what I thought you'd say. And I understand why you have that impression of the guardian, from the film, but that's not the motivation for the character's behavior, as explained in the book.

was going to ask the same question.Think ive seen a book by that title and seen the film advertised. Is it worth watching .

for some reason, the guardian reminded me of Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter movies, and he is also probably a body type, coloring that I find revolting. So it was hard for me to get into the scenes. I was more "ewww" than horrified. How middle school of me, I know.

They're making an American-ized version of this right? - Or is this the english language version y'all are talkin about?

I've been considering reading those books for awhile now, and as of Tues I'm done with summer courses, so I think I'm going to read something other than a text book! Yay me!

Ooooh mebbe I'll go to B&N tomorrow...*salivates*

Swedish sounds so weird, like a mash up of English German and 2 - 3 other things.

The 2 other parts of a trilogy are not available on netflix, are they any good?

They're talking about the Swedish version, there is an American version coming out, but I doubt that it will have quite the same feel to them, knowing American censorship/parental guidelines.

I agree, as much as I shouldn't have been turned on by that scene considering the possibility of it actually occurring being horrible as well as watching it with 2 cute girls, I did watch it again after they'd gone to enjoy it more fully.

Also, I recommend the books. Watch the movie first, otherwise you will spend the whole time thinking "They didn't develop this character, that character, this scene...."

The other 2 parts haven't been made into a movie yet, if they will be at all.

They are quite different to the first book, not nearly as action-based.

Reading it now. Blomkvist is still at the guy's house on the island. Had to fight to read the first couple of chapters but I'm getting into it now. It's funny, but paying money for a book on the Kindle makes me feel like I have to read it. And I do, in a way, because it's the only way I'll get anything for my money, since the book can't be shared or resold. Of course, with this one, I'm starting to be glad I made it through the first few chapters, because now I'm enjoying it.

Bought the book today, I'll report in when I've made some headway (or demolished it in one sitting)
