The Authors' Hangout National Nude Day Support Thread

So, do you sacrafice quality to get quantity?

I added to my comment, which addresses that at least a bit. I write a whole variety styles to try to reach a whole variety of readers. Even the posting name you see for me here only represents one aspect of what I write (which is why I laugh everytime BFW fingers me as a gay male writer only--even on Lit.). I do the same in the publishing world. Different types of writing appeal to different types of readers. And I play in several of those playgrounds--with separate styles and pen names.

I don't think I sacrifice anything. I think I work with a broad range of reader preferences. And it serves what I enjoy doing in writing.

No, I don't purposely misspell "sacrifice" (except maybe to help establish character--which would include the narrator's character) or put my commas in the wrong place on purpose or not structure dialogue correctly. But I do what I think needs to be done to connect with a chosen readership with a chosen writing style.

And, returning to the original point I was speaking to, I say that suggesting that most readers of the Lit. file come here for quality is a bunch of elitiest barf. Most of them come here for arousal and relief. Only a small subset of those have a high need for a quality story along with that. But that doesn't mean the story writers have to pitch to any level they don't want to.

Wow, lost a few more votes. Down to 504. That's really quite a drop from the 569 that I reached earlier. I'm happy with what ever I get but I do expect the vaccum to take even more. Have lots to spare.

My new story "My Way" posted yesterday (not a contest story) Was hoping for the second chapter to post today, didn't happen.

I also believe in quality over quanity, but if you can do both. congrats. to you.

Oh shit! Now I'll probably end up tossing and turning half the night worrying about how many of my 300 that were flushed down the drain.

So did you see my new cover art? Produced by LITEROTICA'S #1 MOST FAVORITE AUTHOR

QUOTE it’llneverend I think you miss the point of this site, Dear Mr. Scouries. This site is not about contests. It is not about winning money…Just as it is about the writer, it is more about the readers… People come here to read stories and they don't care if a writer has posted one story or a dozen stories in a dozen days. They don't care.

First, I would like to correct you – sometimes it is about the money. Don’t tell anyone but think r…o…y…a…l…t…i…e…s …

Second, I’ve never advocated limiting non contest submissions (although I did once propose that authors be charged a token amount for every story over twenty they entered in a calendar year). I do however believe we should limit contest entries.

And you know why!

Maybe you should ask yourself before you enter 10 or 15 or 20 in the next contest why it is that so few of the greats don’t enter stories in contests anymore?

And you might ask yourself what would happen if you limited yourself to just one submission in the next contest. Would you produce something even finer than you do now?

I think so.

But then again, I understand you’ll be in India for the next little while and, unfortunately, may have to skip the next contest completely. Which would be a loss for all of your friends and fans...

Now that all entries are in, I will try to read each and every one. It got too confusing with new ones being added. I couldn't remember which I'd read.

If anyone needs a vote to make their 25, hit me up. I'm happy to help.

I am trying to do the same. If I haven't left a comment let me know and I will be glad to vote/comment on your story. Thank you raven and glynndah for offering to do this!

FUN is my middle name...

And hey, are you the moonman’s daughter? Or even worse, are you one of his many ALTS? The only personal detail I know about the moonman is that he has only one album on his ipod. And as he rides across the Montana foothills, day after day and week after week, all the while concocting new plans to subvert the system, it is Dark Side Of The Moon echoing endlessly between his ears.

As to your question: “why do you work for Literotica?” the answer is simple. FAME and FORTUNE. And not in that order.

As to your suggestion that: “I would expect you to take your work elsewhere” because I’m rightly known and respected for taking “the moral high road” you miss the point my dear. Perhaps it’s your youth.

The “moral high road” in fact demands, even though I’m rich and famous, and perhaps even more so because I am, that I fight injustice everywhere I see it. Sailing away on my yacht while others suffer? Never my dear! james r scouries, no matter how big he becomes, will always defend the poor and downtrodden.

And james r scouries will always challenge the rule breakers, cheaters, c&pers, the ballot box stuffers, the …

quote ACE If I could write illiterate crap to see who bites, I'd probably try doing that too.

I’m pretty sure you could do it if you set your mind to it. But please, no more Bible stories…

quote ACE I must say, I'm afraid, that from watching these contests, I think the substandard work and minimalist plots do very well in the voting.

Why does this not surprise me?

Minimalist pilots?

quote ACE I'll say that I entered this one under an alt to test out the theory that contests vote my stories lower than my usual ones because of the forum personality connection--but I found that isn't so. I just apparently write to a different kind of reader than the bulk of contest readers, I think. (And, no, I don't think the contest readers read at a higher "quality" appreciation level than my usual readership does. This is even borne out in a few "well, duh" comments on my entry.)

I’ve never believed that my “forum personality connection” was resulting in significantly lower scores for my contest stories than my usual ones. To the extent they are lower (and they generally are) I’ve always credited the difference to the wider audience (in terms of likes and dislikes) that a contest entry brings.

You got some “well, duh” comments? You? Notre pilote? I’m definitely going to check the titles on the NUDE DAY list for any biblical references

And you can add me to the list as well, I should have some time this week to do a bit of RVC'ing

Firstly, Dark Side Of The Moon is one of my favorite albums!

Secondly, after a day at the lake this past Sunday, I was inspired to do Wild In The Wild. Furthermore, the editing was extensive and time consuming. Not something I would have done if the story didn't just beg to be told. :) And I really like the way it turned out. Hope everyone else does as well.

Thirdly, I don't expect to win with either of my entries. It's just fun to participate. And it gives me something to talk to my listeners about on my Facebook page. :)

Fourthly and finally, you are entitled to your opinion. But I haven't been lured anywhere by anyone. I believe authors and readers alike should do as they are drawn to do...read one or read them all, write none, one or twenty. If you feel that quality suffers because of multiple entries, then the votes will reflect that if the majority of readers/listeners agree with you. If they do not, then it won't. Ultimately, the best stories will win. If you don't believe that, why do you work for Literotica? It seems like you would take the moral high road if you truly felt they were unfair or that the contests were fixed and all that. I would expect you to take your work elsewhere.

The answer to the part I have in bold above is very simple. Scouries has nothing to do with Literotica. He tries to present himself as if he does. It's all lies. He tells everyone he gets royalties. Nope, just another lie. He tries to tell everyone he's tight with the owners. They won't even answer his PMs. They ignore him like 80% of the people on the site.

In fact he does everything he can to break down and disrupt the site. He has never won a contest even though he is the self proclaimed #1 writer on the site. Of course, that's not his fault, it all the cheaters and the people in the AH who are to blame. If he spent half as much time on his writing as he does on his crappy self promotion, he might actually make a writer one day.

With him, it's all about the ego.

I beg your pardon, sr71plt, by writing that you only write gay stories. That was a silly comment.

What I meant to write was nearly 82% of your stories, 337 stories out of 412, are posted in the gay category. Does that about sum it up?

I have no idea how I deduced that you only write gay stories, when you've written 75 stories out of 412 stories, a bit more than 18%, are in other categories.

Again, I apologize. I shall be more careful what I post in the future.

You win the prize for being the first ever to suggest that I was an ALT. Hopefully you meant it in jest because I sure laughed over that one! But no, I'm not an alt. I'm only me and I'm me all over the net as well as at home. I don't have any alts, so I'm not sure how far people go to make others believe their alts are different people, but you can feel free to check me out on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and my own website, links are in my signature. I even have a Myspace page somewhere but I never go there. I'm far too busy doing my thing to have...or BE an alt. LOL

No, DK is not my father. He's a friend (and way too young to be my dad...not sure how young you think I am, Jim!). My dad passed away on June 25, 1999 and it was the most awful day of my life. I miss him every single day. Here's my memorial tattoo.

I know you're a numbers man, a brilliant accountant, but did you really add up ACE'S stories?

Anyway freddie :D I'm delighted to see you up and about. And let me be the first person to invite you to participate in the next contest.

We need you man! BADLY!

And you've got 6 weeks or so to produce one of your masterpieces. So pleasse, for LITEROTICANS everywhere, start writing.

So what is the prize I won anyway?

Actually no I never believed you were an ALT. And certainly not of a rule breaking cowboy! Your post that referred to the Dark Side of the Moon brought back bad memories – our moonman once used that as his LITEROTICA moniker many moons before. Then he started to create ALTS … and more ALTS … and more…

So you’re a Saints fan. Were you in Miami for the big game? Gawd, now that was a week! Black and Gold everywhere. Real party people.

I’m sorry to hear about your dad. And that’s a very nice tattoo.

Now, if you went back and got I Whispered tattooed below the Daddy you’d also be honoring the most voted on and most commented on story on LITEROTICA. Which would be nice…

But I can understand if you don’t want to … but if not, you might get a Dolphin tattoo on your cute rear end. Put this:

Only in spirit! And I was born a Saints fan. WHO DAT! Bless Dem Boys Of The Black And Gold! Geaux Saints!

I’m sorry to hear about your dad. And that’s a very nice tattoo.

Dolphins??? OMG! My Dad would roll over in his grave! (Actually, he liked the Dolphins too, but not like the Saints.) He has Go Saints on his headstone.

If I'm going to get an opposing team tattooed on my ass it would probably be of the Colts. That way they can continue to be spanked.. LOL

Just for you, Sweets, I'm postponing my trip to India, until after the contests are over.

My plan is to submit 25 stories in the Summer Lovin' contest. I have 5 ready to post. Overall, I'm hoping to hit 100 contest stories submitted.

My total for the Nude Day contest was 10 stories, 113,000 words, 330 Word pages, and 37 Lit pages. Not bad, huh?

I don't expect to win anything, but I had fun writing the stories.

Cunt? That's low man...

Although I'm obligated to enter the SUMMER CONTEST under the terms of my contract, I had hoped, in fact planned, to give OG'S SUMMER CONTEST SUPPORT THREAD a miss.

However, in light of the above news, I'm afraid I'll have to return to defend honesty and integrity, to continue my fight against rule breaking and cheating.

And I was so looking forward to the time off...

In fact its very good! You know, I think it would be wonderful if you kept running totals of number of stories, views, votes, words, comments, etc., of your contest entries in your signature. Then all of us could follow your quest.

But I do think you’re missing a good trip. Shit, you’re turning down an all expenses paid trip to the Taj Mahal? Look at this place honey…

And all the phallic elements in this picture accurately depict the many pricks you might meet over there… why not reconsider?

Check your comments. I finally got to finish the story and WOW!

I saw and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Good comment, is always appreciated. ;) :D

May I recommend "Bound" to you. Not many BDSM stories win a Valentines Day contest.
