From here:
The Elkhart County Red Cross is calling a Bristol pit bull a hero after he alerted his family to a fire, and even tried to pull a 3-month-old baby girl away from the danger. The fire started around 3 a.m. Thursday in a hallway and quickly spread throughout the home.

...The family says Thor [the pit bull] barked and jumped on them until they woke up. Then he grabbed the baby's bassinet and dragged it to the front door. "He's the hero today. He's the man," said Kemper Hunter, Thor's owner. "We turned around to look for the bassinet that was at the head of the bed, and it's at the door. All we got to do is open the door and go out. [Thor's] like 'Let's roll, dad! It's time to go, I got you.'"

Yay Thor:

The most miss-understood breed of dog in the world today. They are loyal companions that will protect and love their family. They are not vicious killers unless they are taught to be.

I love mine to this day even though he has now passed on. He was a good friend who liked to play and cavort around the back yard. He loved all he was introduced to. His best buddy was my granddaughter who he would let hang on him all day without complaint.

I am sure that he would have done the same for us as Thor did for his family.

Pit Bulls can be good dogs. Let's punish the people who teach them to fight and make them fight instead.

I hope this helps people understand that pits are just like other dogs, not mindless killers, but friends.

Here's a pic of my buddy...he's gone now and I miss him.

He was part Rotty too, but such a sweetheart. And that choker he has on, he knew how to get out it with ease.

Or have you had Marley state certified as a smoke alarm? I think we should stop closing the terrorier in her box at night and just put the cover over her. If a fire breaks out, I definitely want here hyperactive little body jumping up and down on me!

How is Marley doing? Did you relate to her and youngest the story of brave, heroic Thor and the fire? :D

Not yet. She's home, but he isn't. :)

She's doing great...probably the mellowest, most chill dog I've ever owned. And because she looks mean, strangers stay away from the house and the yard. :D
