Saturday Night Medical Dork

More like a dog, that barks at almost everyone. I saw it posted somewhere,
that most of what dogs bark, are curses and swears and oaths.

A 50 year old male patient is admitted to the ICU with a diagnosis of liver failure. The nurse notices that the patient’s respiratory rate has bee progressively increasing. An arterial blood gas (ABG) is obtained and reveals: pH= 7.35, PCO2= 14, PO2= 93, HCO3= 8. The critical care nurse interprets this clinical picture as:

A. Respiratory acidosis with metabolic compensation leading to tachypnea.
B. Metabolic acidosis with respiratory compensation leading to tachypnea.
C. Metabolic acidosis with hypoxia leading to tachypnea.
D. Respiratory acidosis with hypoxia leading to tachypnea

Haha! I know I should be out on a Saturday night, but invasive hemodynamics is much more fun.
