Portrayals in the Media

I think it's sweet, can't see why anyone could be offended by this.

I have seen it. It is a sweet ad and nicely done. BUT what has it got to do with McDonalds?

It would have been nice if the dad overheard the conversation, and came to a sudden realization that his son was speaking to his classmate, and not a girl. Then have the dad respond in a positive manner (a smile, a hug, a hold out of his hand covering his sons hand on the table...something to show love and acceptance!)

I think it's well done. It doesn't make me want to go to McDonald's, but, then, not much does.

It took place in a McDonald's...that's about it.

It makes more sense then many of the other McDonald's commercials around the world. Some of the Japanese ones are just plain bazaar.

I think its kind of sad the guy couldn't be open with what he was. Maybe if it were part of an advertising story, like the first one we saw, then one with the boy meeting his boyfriend, then another with the dad, then a final one with everyone happily eating together, that might make more sense.

I agree.
Its sort of a "Come as you are, we accept you even though others around you might not"
Or "Come as you are and bring your homophobic parents with you, we like them too because their money spends just fine"

Japanese commercials in general are bizarre.
