I just found out that today is National Doughnut Day!

I called the talk radio show who announced the event and told them, "I think I see some holes in your presentation."

I'm guessin' all the cop shops across the nation have their decorations up...and Homer Simpson will be Grand Marshal of the parade down 5th Avenue in NYC. ;)

Actually, all of the scumbags are lined up outside their favorite doughnut shops, waiting to chow down on their food of choice.

Hm, I was thinking October 1st or 10th was Doughnut Day. What makes June 5th so special?

To resurrect an old thread, today is National Doughnut Day.

At Krispy Kreme, each customer may pick one complimentary doughnut of any variety with no purchase necessary. At Dunkin’ Donuts, each guest on Friday gets one free doughnut of his or her choice with the purchase of any beverage.

I'll wager Homer Simpson's burning up the asphalt rushing from one franchise location to another all around Springfield. :D

Mmmm...doughnuts.

Oh goody! A reason to try the new doughnut shop in town.

I shall be celebrating this most important holiday with a chocolate buttermilk bar.... :D

Great! Not only an excuse to go to Tim Horton's, but a social and ceremonial obligation to indulge! I see a Honey Stick and a Double-Double in my near future!

The let me sell you a bag of...

Just remember what they say, "What goes around and has a hole in the center is probably a doughnut!"

On the other hand, it might be a Polo mint.

Over here, in the colonies, we're more used to Lifesavers:

The History of Lifesaver Candy - Clarence Crane invented Lifesaver candies in 1912. His intent was to create a candy that would be able to survive the summer heat as opposed to chocolate candies. The Pep-O-Mint flavor was the original Lifesaver candy. Since this first creation, there have been a wide variety of flavors and colors offered. The popular roll of five flavors was first created in 1935.

Crane wanted a flat, round peppermint candy that would be different from the square-shaped mint candies that were popular at the time. A pharmaceutical pill maker was found and hired to help create a circle-shaped candy with a hole in the center. The candy that resulted looked like a lifesaver, so that was the name that was given to the candies.
