Fun quiz

I didn't do well. So many questions were based on US Marketing.

I got 17 right as well....but on three of the last few, I had my computer playing heavy metal, and didn't know it was an audio clue...oops.

I surprised myself knowing as many as I did.

So, with all of us scoring 17, will we now be known as the 85%ers?

Only in the USA citizenry.
We in the trackless wastes of the RoW could not be expected to know anything about adverts for, say, American Airlines.

There you go again. You furriners are always making excuses for your lack of familiarity with things that really matter!

Great! A test to find out how well advertisers have succeeded in pounding their shit into our skulls! And we're proud of our high scores!

Half of us can't find Canada on a map, but we all recognize that Nike swish. High five!

Which half of you can't find Canada on map? It's sort of north of Chicago, if you need to find us.

...though I must admit I've had students label the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as "Mississippi River" and Siberia as "Roman Empire." Perhaps the worst was when I let the whole class collaborate in locating on the classroom map each of ten important archaeological sites we had studied. Thirty-eight students managed collectively to locate six of the ten.

Yes. I was perturbed that I managed to get 16 of them. Ugh. :(

Standard Oil of Ohio

Standard Oil of California

Standard Oil of Indiana (AMOCO)

Gulf Oil

Did you know they all are or were part of BP?

As a matter of fact, yes, I did know that BP bought most of those out. Guess you Brits showed us, huh? Can play the big boy's game with the best of 'em.

Does this have anything to do with this thread?

Aral, no...the rest, yes, and I pretty much remember when they became part of BP...BP gas stations started appearing in places where there had been Gulf, and Amoco, and.......................

Yes. I don't recognise some of the brands in the original quiz but I still buy the company's products - under different names.

For example: Walmart is a big player in the UK but here it is called ASDA.

20 out of 20! :D

Yes I watch way too much TV and have a bad habit of retaining useless information.

ETA: And yes I know where Canada is...hence the name Great White North. They also gave us phrases such as "You hoser" and punctuate every sentence with "eh". They are producers of the likes of Paul Getty and the McKenzie brothers. It has a common boarder with the US that stretches from the State of Washington to the State of Maine. At one point the country of Canada dips to the south of a Major US state.
