Which President was in office when BP and Halliburton were given permission to drill?

It wasn't President Obama, so how is it his fault?

Obama went on teevee and said he's responsible for it. Now he's gone on vacation and the well keeps gushing.

But the oil well didnt blow up when Bush was President, and Obama's people havent inspected it as required.

Jon Stewart talked about this last week. He played clip after clip of right-wing pundit & Fox News hosts stating how this event was Obama's Katrina.

Then he played clips showing how those same folks all defended Bush to the end on his actions during Katrina while he was still in office.

So - when Bush was in office, his Katrina actions were good.

With Bush out of office, his Katrina actions were bad, and they will now use all of his fuck-ups as specific names for anything that doesn't go perfectly during Obama's administration.

Fucking hypocrites. It boggles the mind.

Bush had about as much control over the aftermath of Katrina as Obama does that oil leak. New Orleans and the state of Louisiana had evac plans for NO in case of a hurricane and no one did squat. Both BP and the feds needed to have methods in place to deal with a well blowout and didn't. Bush didn't cause the hurricane and put a bunch of incompetents in NO's City Hall and Obama didn't cause the oil leak.

Bush was ripped in the press for post-Katrina problems most of which were in fact self-inflicted by the state, the city and it's inhabitants reactions to the crisis.

Obama's getting his wrists slapped by the press for playing golf and cussed at by the likes of James Carville...hardly the same thing.

Let's try for balance here, people.

I agree with this (and posted that about Bush at the time). And in this case, it's utterly ridiculous to blame Obama for a private industry failure resulting from cutting corners, unfettered by prior regulation, and profit-pumping-up arrogance. This is an example of why private industry shouldn't be let to run free, not an example of too much government.

Oh, that's rich.

Indeed? You wouldn't know an even handed discussion if it bit you on the nose. All you can do is bitch, whine, curse and spew hatred of old white men and Republicans. You're predictable and you're boring.

Gee, I agree with this too. Agreeing with TE999 for two posts in a row. Hmmm.

Unlike you, I'm honest, so I'll readily admit to my bias...don't have a problem with that at all,

What crawled up your ass and died?

You? Honest? Hardly? A hypocrite, yes. For starters, you don't know squat about me or my honesty so save your breath. You of all people should be ashamed to admit you're prejudiced against anyone, especially since you see a racist and a bigot behind every tree and are perpetually offended by practically anything anyone says about minorities.

Like I said, predictable and boring...and hateful.

I agree. There are some people who apparently believe The Big O should personally dive to the bottom of the Gulf and plug the leak, just as there were some people who practically blamed The Little W for starting Hurricane Katrina and blowing up the levees to make the flooding worse. Both ideas are nonsense, of course, but some people think along those lines.

Don't forget that little W also blew up the World Trade Center on 9/11

Both events are hallmarks of inertia and incompetence teamed to produce disaster. The BIG FUCK-OFF is always followed by the BIG FUCK-UP.
