Thank you EVERYONE for all your thoughts and prayers. She was in surgery for nearly 4 hrs today... lost a lot of blood and according to another friend who drove about 3 hrs to be there she looked like hell coming out of recovery. However, the surgeons are quite optimistic. They put another balloon in the vein (she was diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) and think that should do the trick. She will be in the hospital a minimum of another 3 days and recovery is expected to take 6 months. They have told her she will be on blood thinners for a year. She is incredibly fit and is an aggressive exerciser - does boot camps, runs, lifts weights, etc. and it will KILL her not to exercise.
