National Nude Day (July 14)
themes: public nudity, exhibitionism, etc.
starts: June 20
closes: July 11
winners announced: July 18

(From the sticky Authors! Please Read)

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. You will probably curse the marking systems and fail to understand how they could possibly have done that to you. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous contest support threads.

Please ignore the moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth that occur in this thread over the contest and voting systems and concentrate on the benefits of writing contest entries.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Og

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. As usual there's a plug for my essay: Entering A Themed Literotica Contest. You will also find helpful advice from others in the How-To section of the stories listed on Literotica. Some of that advice is much more helpful than mine because after all I'm the instigator of the Last Place Contest.

QUOTE miss andtheend :p I wrote 14 stories in the Valentine's Contest and a mere 8 in the Earth Day Contest. Had I not written 9 lit pages more than 30,000 words on my Daddy Don't Look! I'm Naked story, I probably would have matched my Valentine's Day contest output. Definitely, I wrote more words and lit pages on my Earth Day stories than I did on my Valentine's Day stories. Thank you very much for noticing.

For your information, I've already started 8 stories for the Nude Day contest. I figure I'll enter 12 stories

Just as the multi chaptered stories and multiple entries were ruining the contests 2 years ago it's starting again.

If this mad SURVIVALIST keeps it up at this pace she'll singlehandedly enter 80-100 stories in the 2010 SPECIAL contests.

Absolutely fucking stupid!

QUEEN LAUREL :cattail: its time to put a limit on the number of stories an author can enter in a contest.

LITEROTICA CONTESTS

Yes we still have to address the CHEATING problem.

And we also have to address the andtheend problem.

But I believe there’s an even bigger issue facing the LITEROTICA Special Contests. And just what is this pressing problem? What could possibly be more important than the rampant cheating and ballot box stuffing. Or more important than the stopping of these lunatics from the SURVIVORS CONTEST?

Quite simply – FAVORITES. Or should I say the lack of them.

Did any of you notice that in the last contest (EARTH DAY 2010) only three out of the top 100 MOST FAVORITE authors on the site submitted stories? Three measly percent. And these are supposed to be READERS CHOICE contests.

Thank the lord for sarahhh, alwayswantedtoo, and D.G.Hear. I had planned to enter but even with an entry from yours truly we’d only have been up to 4%.

Where are the greats?

And why don’t they submit stories to the contests?

Have they all been chased away By the lack of transparency? By the QUEEN’S :cattail: continual refusal to show us the real results?

Where is Slickman?
rgjohn?
Goldenaingel?
Elianna? and her funny names
TryAnything?

And the wonderful chief ManyFeathers?
the BarondeSade?
secretme?
youbadboy? and his sarah
niki_2021?

walterio?
bluedragonauthor?
Fuck, where’s Just Plain Bob?
samslam?
Tx Tall Tales?

And soular? Hell she’s supposed to be the most influential writer and she doesn’t enter contests!
Eldridgein00?
BlewWater69?
Isobael?
AsylemSeeker? funniest guy arounnd

Evil Alpaca?
Jazz Matthews?
Erlikkhan?
Even Boxlicker? for crying out loud. And he’s a SURVIVALIST.
DamonX?
Lesbian TawneyT?

And of course Freddie?

Our goal for the next contest, this NUDE DAY CONTEST 2010 should be to get stories from the greats, from the authors our readers love, our FAVORITES

In fact maybe we should limit entry to authors who're in the Top 100.

james r scouries esq.

Actually, I like Andtheend. She's one of my favorite writers. Have you read some of her stories?

I think she's a very talented writer.

I'm looking forward to reading her Nude Day stories.

Hey, what can I tell you. I'm a sucker for a woman who can write.

Sorry, Ace, even though you wish you were and wish I was attracted to you, you're not a woman.

You're so taken with yourself (and unattractive to anyone else. Well there's always Sarahhh) that I can certainly see why you are attracted to Andtheend. Wink, wink.

For once, I completely agree with scouries.

I find it rude and arrogant to use the special contests for some weird ego-trip. There are no extra survivor points for a contest entry are there?

It is understandable if a writer has more than one idea they want to use for a contest. So, I would like to see a rule introduced to limit an author to a maximum of two entries per contest.

Sorry, but it will never happen. Do you know why?

Because Literotica makes money off of saps like us, those of us who write for free. I don't know if you know this, but this is an erotic story site and not a forum board site. It's all about the story.

If one writer has the talent, the ability, the creativity, and the God given gift to write 14 Valentine's Day complete, stand alone stories of 71,000 words in several categories for the contest, then good for him or her.

If one writer has the talent, the ability, the creativity, and the God given giflt to write 9 Earth Day complete, stand alone stories of 83,000 words in several categories for the contest, then good for him or her.

If one writer has the talent, the ability, the creativity, and the God given gift to write 12 Nude Day complete, stand alone stories of 100,000 words in several categories for the contest, then good for him or her.

I'm just saying. That's just my opinion. I really don't care one way or the other, kind of, not really, not at all.

Besides, isn't this what this site is about, writing stories? What difference does it make if a writer writes one story or a hundred stories for the contest?

He or she is not going to win the damn contest anyway. The winner, duh, has already been decided and predetermined. It doesn't matter how many stories that one creatively talented and hugely modest writer writes.

"You dig?"

I say let the writers write what they need to write. Those who have the interest in reading what they write will read and those who don't won't. Then there are those socially fucked people who will bash the one creatively talented writer's stories and down vote them.

What are you going to do? Whine about it? No, not me. Have sour grapes about it? No, not me. All I do is mind my own business and write stories. I don't like drawing attention to myself. It's not my thing to be in the spotlight.

"How do I look. Is my hair sticking up in the back. Maybe I should have worn a different tie."

If you ask me, Scouries and those like Scouries, the elderly sr71plt and the midget, sorry, small person Darknicaid, just to name a few, are just jealous that they can only come up with one or two contest stories. Hey, not everyone here is as gifted and talented and modest a writer, as the person, Andtheend, whoever she is, who wrote all those wonderful stories. Have you read any of her work? She's amazing.

Yet, in Dark's case, one story was more than enough to coincidentally win the contest...yet, again. Surprise, surprise. Go figure.

Hey, I'm not saying that the cheater cheated, but...

BFW, your logic is a bit confused. If someone is a Survivor contestant they are going to try and write as many stories as possible anyway. They don't need to flood a special contest with entries.

I agree with darkniciad who said, elsewhere, he thought the survivor concept had had its day. If the site owners consider it is still generating traffic though, they will oviously continue it .

On the other hand, I suspect the multi-posting in contests probably has a negative effect on visitor throughput and is not commercially sensible.

Dark's Earth Day entry was definitely not 'cheating'. It was, however, against the spirit but not the letter of the rules and I hope he decides not to repeat it next year.

In all due respect, for someone who has only written 6 stories on this site in 6 years and who hasn't written a word, other than forum board posts, in 4 long, years, I can understand you being adverse to a writer who is prolific.

Those who are complaining about too many contest entries from one person are the same people complaining about chapter stories last year. What next?

This is a story site. This site welcomes writers. They want writers to write as many stories as they can, ergo the Survivor Contest.

Have you not read any of my Survivor posts?

Listen, I don't like writers who write 750 words and call it a story when the story has no tension, no plot, no character development, no dialogue, and no sex. They have the nerve to call that a story and the moderators of Survivor have the nerve to accept that story to count for a points. That's the stories that Bakeboss aka PrincessErin writes

Here we go again with another contest that is predetermined and fixed by moderators. When I was competing in Survivor, my stories were deemed Review and Essay and Non-erotic and pulled out of the category that Laurel accepted them, when they weren't. They caused me to lose the contest two years in a row.

Not so today with Bakeboss. She is given special rules and conditions to post her little shitty stories anywhere she wants. Not fair.

Let's have a fair contest for once and for all.

It seems to me that the some of the writers here who are hoping to rid this site of writers they fear. They are afraid of losing control of the one space where they are accepted.

I just write stories. Just because no one can match my output is no reason to put limitations on what I write because others can't write as many stories as I can.

Pardon me for a moment. The paper boy is at my door.

"Hey, how's those Nude Day stories going. I didn't sneak you Mexicans in my house to sit there and stare at a computer screen. Write. I need to translate all this stuff later."

Sorry, I also had girl scouts selling cookies, too.

Anyway, those who don't like me personally will call my stories shit, but I'll put my stories up against anyone on this site. Yeah, sure not all of my stories are best sellers, but some of them are grand slams.

For your information, now don't spread this around. I don't want everybody to know about this, but I heard that Andtheend is really someone famous. I know, I'm excited about it, too.

I heard that she's either Toni Morison, JK Rowlings, or Stephanie Meyer. I don't know which. I heard she is here slumming, while practicing her writing technique. This is what I think we all should do.

We should welcome her and when she post a story, we all should give her a 5 vote to encourage her. Not so much for her score or for her to win a contest, but to tell her that we appreciate her writing here and are honored by her presence here. Wouldn't that be great? Not to mention, that if we all made her, whoever she is, feel welcomed, maybe more celebrities would vistit.

I think it's a great idea. So, instead of discouraging someone so special from writing stories, we should encourage them.

Also, by the way, I have swamp land, I mean, oceanfront property in Florida for sale, if you are interested. Yes, of course, the bridge is for sale separately, too.

BFW, I have some sympathy with what happened to you when you were a survivor contestant. It wasn't fair but you didn't help your cause by your hubris and belligerence.

Can you put hand on heart and say you didn't churn some 750-word stories?

Before you became a bitter survivalist I enjoyed your writing and just wish you'd go back to your happier state and write/post in your old light-humorous way.

Contests are a special niche on lit - a little gem - and, like an orchid, need to be nurtured carefully. That's what Og does with this thread and his 'last' prize.

I haven't written here for some time because I spend half my working life writing and, whilst I have many nearly-finished stories, I lack the joie de vivre to do the final grind. The increasing vitriol and ad hominem attacks in the forums are also dispiriting.

Come on then - you're always making challenges - you post positively on the forums and don't attack people thru end-May and I'll submit a Nude Day story and a general story. Are you folding or seeing me?

There's a difference from attacking people out of the clear blue and defending yourself after being attacked. Perhaps, you take too many of my comments out of context because you have not followed the history of those who have launched constant and continually attacks upon me (sniff).

Honestly, I can swear on a stack of Bibles that I have not written a 750 word story. Having written nearly 800 stories and approaching 3,000,000 words, you do the math.

Okay, I'll do it for you. My stories average more than 3,000 words. Many are multiple Literotica pages.

Actually, since 2009, my stories are now averaging more than 7,500 words.

Don't forget, towards the end of the Literotica contest, when I was competing against several writers who were posting under one person to write more stories than me to win the Survivor Contest, I started writing abbreviated stories. Also, my stories back in 2007 averaged a mere 1,500 to 2,000 words.

Yet, if you look at Bakeboss's stories, every single one of her stories are between the 750-1,000 word mark. Writing those types of stories does nothing for the site. All it does is wash the stories of others off the boards prematurely.

I've complained to the moderators about her to no avail. I've suggested every year of the contest that they raise the limit from 750 words to 1,500 words just for the Survivor Contest. Their answer is, if 750 words are good enough for the rest of Literotica than 750 words is good enough for Survivor.

Yet, converserly, when Laurel accepts a story posted in a category, that category is not good enough for the moderators of Survivor, especially if I wrote it. They freely moved more than a hundred of my stories out of the categories that Laurel put them in to place them in the non-erotic and review and essay categories, causing me to write even more stories.

Understandably, you can understand my frustration with the way contests are run around here. If you ask me, Literotica doesn't want to pay out the prize money. It wouldn't suprise me, if there were people put in place to pretend they are contestants to win the contests, so that money is not paid out to he general public.

Hey, stranger things have happened.

As far as you writing a Nude Day story, I can't motivate you to do that. Your inspiration needs to come from within.

Go ahead, take off all your clothes. I just wanna see something (lol).

Don't be shy. It's just me. Think of me as you would your doctor, Dr. Freddie. Let me see you naked. Maybe, I can be of help after all. That's right bend over. Cough (lol).

Just let me get naked, too. Maybe together, we can make our own story.

For your information, now don't spread this around. I don't want everybody to know about this, but I heard that Andtheend is really someone famous.

"I know, I'm excited about it, too."

I heard that she's either Toni Morison, JK Rowlings, or Stephanie Meyer. I don't know which. I heard she is here slumming, while practicing her writing technique on our little audience of scribes for the feedback and comments.

"This is what I think we all should do."

We should welcome her and when she post a story, we all should give her a 5 vote to encourage her to write not just one entry in the Nude Day contest, but as many entries as she can possibly write.

"I'm hoping she writes 12 stories. Wow. That would certainly make Scouries happy."

Giving her a 5 vote is not so much for her score or for her to win a contest, but to tell her that we appreciate her writing here and are honored by her presence here.

"Wouldn't that be great if she wrote 12 Nude Day contest stories?"

Not to mention, that if we all made her, whoever she is, feel welcomed, maybe more celebrities would visit.

I think it's a great idea. So, instead of discouraging someone so special from writing stories, we should encourage them.

I rather think "she" is someone who declares he never enters contests under names other than BOSTONFICTIONWRITER. (Opps, did I give something away? :D)

Well freddie :D my friend you have a rare genius in getting to the heart of every problem. And that is that (outside of sarahh and a few others) we have…

NO CELEBRITIES – NO FAVORITES – NO BEST SELLERS – NO LITERARY SUPERSTRS

competing. Instead the Special Contests have become the playground of nobodies and wannabes – of ALTS and SURVIVALISTS.

Yes I know that andtheend is really XXX CENSORED BY LITEROTICA AUTHORITIES XXX but she is not the answer. The answer instead is to encourage our writing superstars to participate.

Here they are – the LITEROTICA CRÈME de la CRÈME – and it will only be these greats who can revitalize reader interest in these contests:

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every one of these giants produced a work for this upcoming contest? If finally our reading public were treated to their works.

Perhaps we could inaugurate a new contest system – with different divisions. Like soccer perhaps. There would be a First Division – a division reserved for the greats. The FAVORITES Top Writers joined by 1000+ VOTE CLUB and 100+ COMMENT CLUB MEMBERS.

A Second Division for the average, run of the mill writers.

A Third Division for ALTS.

A Fourth Division for AH posters but non writers (we’d rate their posts).

A Fifth Division for the SURVIVALISTS.

Then finally a rookie division.

This way everyone would be competing with their equals. It would be fairer for all of us. And hopefully will encourage the BESTSELLING authors to come back.

Yes, it would be wonderful. That would include you. When was the last time you entered a contest here?

I trust you have checked the list for these folks with an eye to how many might even still be around and posting stories here.

(Oh, and I edited my post just above yours here to give you that added little thrill. :D)

Don't count on me for the Nude Day contest, though. I think the theme is limiting and pedestrian--erotica goes way beyond that.

My last two forays into the LITEROTICA Special Contests world were in the 2010 VALENTINES DAY contest and the 2009 HOLIDAY contest.

And I’m quite proud to report I won an A.I.R. AWARD in each.

LITEROTICA’S 2009 Winter Holiday Story Contest
MOST VOTES RECEIVED WINNER

Emily’s Xmas Milk by scouries

LITEROTICA’S 2010 Valentines Day Story Contest
MOST VOTES RECEIVED WINNER

Angie’s Valentines Baby by scouries

I did miss the EARTH DAY contest but only because I became aware of the rampant cheating that was going on and didn’t want to be associated with it. I also believe the EARTH DAY contest has run its course and should be replaced (I’ve already advised the good QUEEN on this matter). Hopefully next year it will be no more.

As you probably know under my ROYALTY contract I’ve committed myself to entering at least 4 Special Contests per year.

As to the authors on my SUPERSTAR BEST SELLER list: As it turns out almost all of them are still around and posting. The problem is that lately they haven’t been posting in the contests. That I’d like to change.

Finally I’d like to encourage you to enter the NUDE DAY contest. True you won’t be in the first division but I know there’s a place for you in the second. Given your recent success with Biblical stories perhaps you could set it in the Garden of Eden. What for example would have happened if Adam’s rib had produced Eddie instead of Eve? Go from there…

I responded to this one of the other thirty-two places you slapped it.

Somebody (BFW) told me to write for the contests to give my name more recognition and to receive more comments than a normal way of submitting stories. I've listen to some very constructive, helpful advice from a lot of authors and readers on the site. I've learned more from entering the contests than I would have from just a normal submission. I think my writing has improved during this last year even though my scores haven't shown a great improvement. I'm even thinking about entering two stories--a good one and a bad one just to see if the voting system is fair.

So...let me get this straight. The next contest you're going to write a good story (lol)...to go along with your bad story...instead of just writing a bad story?

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

You know that I'm kidding. Besides, everyone knows that Scouries, you, Sarahhh, and sr71plt are all really Bostonfictionwriter.

Oh, don't forget to wish Ace a happy birthday. He turned 71 yesterday, even though I wrote a thread somewhere that he's 70. He insists that he's 72, however.

His own mother wouldn't even sign the birthday card, so he killed her because she said that she wished she had aborted him. I saw her body in the back of Txrad's pickup truck.

Then, he was walking around in her clothes talking like her.

The most important thing that I've learned in the last year is that you are THEE Bostonfictionwriter. Nobody writes more fiction than you, Freddie. You've even written more than two thousand ficticious posts. (lol)

My bad story is going to be about you and how I met you that hot summer day sitting nude on top of that fountain in the center of Cambridge with your laptop covering your private parts and there was little Polo drinking from the bottom pool of water. Then, in my good story, I'll work on chopping my run-on sentences in two.
