Okay this is an easy German dish that most people will enjoy. It's also easy to make. You will need:

1 pound ground Beef. (although you can use any ground meat you like including fish, which is tasty as hell.)

1 Onion, minced small

1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Paprika
1 Egg
3 Cups Breadcrumbs
Butter or Olive Oil. (Enough to coat the bopttom of a large pan.)

In a mixing bowl combine the meat, Egg, Onion, Salt, Pepper, Paprika and one cup Bread Crumbs. Mix well. Use your hands and have fun with it.

Form into Golf Ball sized balls then flatten. Dip into the breadcrumbs so they are covered.

In a large Pan heat just enough Oil or Butter to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the patties and fry until both sides are browned and the meat is cooked through.

Now you can serve these a couple of ways. If you're making them for lunch or a picnic you can serve them on smallish Hard Rolls. (Either hot or cold, they taste good both ways.)

If you're making them for dinner as I just did you can serve the patties hot on a plate with something like Shoestring Fries or a good Potatoe Salad. (If you know how to make it you can serve these with a nice Red Cabbage, the sweetness of the Cabbage compliments the patties nicely.)

Cold, sliced, on a piece of whole grain bread with a touch of mayonnaise on top. :D

Frikadellen take me back to my childhood. :) My mom would serve them fresh and hot with a Kohlrabi sauce, then see above for the leftovers.
 
That's a lot like what Italians call polpette. I make them all the time, albeit a bit differently. (No paprika, yes garlic, etc.) Very nice. :)
