My girlfriend and I are buying our first strap on together. Ideally, we'd like something reasonably priced, that will stimulate both of us at the same time. We did a little online shopping, but we'd like to have a better idea of what we want before we go out to an actual store to make a purchase.

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Recommendations?

Great question, I am interested to see the outcome, because I want 1 too.

No suggestions. Only thoughts...

About the two of you putting it into action.

OK. Go to the shop and try it on? Make sure it fits? That would be so much fun. In the shop, checking the merchandise.. Especially with the woman who is to use it..

Excellent places to shop are Blowfish and Good Vibrations but my favorite is Babeland. It’s important to remember that you’re not buying "a strap-on dildo" as such, you’re actually buying a dildo and a harness to put it in. They’re generally two separate products.

The harness I recommend the most is the Jaguar and the Terra Firma is a close second. These are often hard to manipulate if the wearer is pretty large, though, so I usually mention the Crown Harness as well because it’s designed for bigger bodies. All of these have straps that go around each leg, which I prefer because they’re more secure. If you want one that’s just got one strap (thong-style) go with the Buzz Me Tender (which has a spot for a bullet vibe). By the way, I don’t like synthetic (nylon) fabrics for harnesses. Backpack straps are also made out of nylon, and that’s what these sound like…the one time I used a synthetic harness, I couldn’t stop laughing because it sounded like a backpack bouncing along.

Dildos are hard to recommend because everybody wants something different…and so there are hundreds (if not thousands) of styles. Look through babeland.com, goodvibes.com, and blowfish.com for something you like. If you want a double dildo, I can’t recommend the Nexus (and its smaller cousin, Nexus Jr.) enough: they are designed to feel good for the person wearing the harness, too (most boomerang-style doubles just feel like they’re going to fall out). The Share is extremely popular, as is the Feeldoe, but I have no experience with those...just the Nexus. Just make sure that if you get a double, you get a harness that has the hole all the way through. I also recommend silicone over other materials: it’s safer, easier to clean, lasts longer, holds heat…there are a lot of reasons to use silicone dildos! (Price, unfortunately, is not one of them, but they’re worth the extra expense.)

So take a look around and pick out something you like. If all else fails, get a kit - there are several kits to choose from. You should be able to find them at just about any sex store, but they won't necessarily come with the female-focused, sex-positive vibe you get at the other places! (If you want to tell me your city I can maybe find a store for you.)

By the way, for tips on using it, Babeland has a guide to sucking strap-on cock and Fairy Butch wrote a book called The Ultimate Guide to Strap-On Sex. Also, for more tips on choosing a harness, try the Harness Coach from Babeland.

Hope this helps! :)

Extremely good information for F/F also.:rose:

Great links, Etoile. Sucking a strap-on! A phone sex friend (male) has promised he would suck mine. One big happy bunch of bi friends!

Etoile,

I love all the links and suggestions you gave, as well as all the firsthand information. I'd love to spend that kind of money on a sex toy, but can't, at least not now. Anything wrong with a thirty or forty dollar harness + toy?

I really do appreciate your input. I have a lot of link bookmarking to do. :rose:

Of course not! The harness will probably be nylon rather than leather, but that's okay.

A lot of people like the Vac-U-Lock system, it's not my favorite because it limits what you can put into the harness (the hole is only sized for their dildos), but it's also only about $20 for the harness by itself and they have kits for $30-50 - this is a $30 one, for example, but browse the site!

Check out the kits at Eden Fantasys - they are usually nylon copies of more expensive leather harnesses, and the price is right for you! If I had to recommend just ONE from their site, it would be this one because it comes with a silicone dildo. The same harness comes in black but with a longer silicone dildo - those are each $36. (Don't miss Eden's harness homepage here which has all kinds of options.)

As for the toy, keep in mind that you can get the cheapest of cheap now and upgrade to the finest of fine later - assuming you get a regular harness and not a Vac-U-Lock. If possible, get something with SNAPS where the dildo goes. I consider this critical for upgrading your dildo later, because if you get a harness with a 1.5" diameter hole and NO SNAPS you will never be able to upgrade. An example is the Newcomer - notice it says you can use other dildos "as long as they have a flared base and are slimmer than 1.5 inches." Now, a flared base is completely common, but...what if you and your partner decide you want a 1.75" diameter dildo? If you have that harness, you're out of luck. But take a look at the Vibrating Velvet - notice how it has snaps and three different O-ring sizes? You can go as small or as large as you want if you have snaps! I'm pretty sure most kits these days include harnesses with snaps, but look at the picture closely before you buy so you can use any dildo with it later! (O-Rings can be bought separately at many places.)

Oh, and one more tip - think about your pubes when buying. If you keep the bush lush and full, it will get easily caught in something like this and that's no fun! But if you get something like this it's much less likely to yank on you. (If you keep things trimmed down or shaved, the design shouldn't matter.)

I dislike the fake looking strapons. I like the reality and being able to get into the fantasy
I guess it's different for lesbians. At no time have I ever thought a strap-on was a penis substitute...it's just a way to play. "Reality" would turn me off...penises are funny-looking. :)

I prefer the fakes because I want the reality, and none of those DJ products look like my dick.

I mentioned that i want to design a new series of nexus/share style dildoes, right? I'm designing a harness for them as well-- it will keep the dildo pushed up against the clit, and one model will come with a swinging ballsac.

Me too. None of our dildos are realistic. Doesn't bother me in the slightest! We have one that has balls but it's blue. :D
Well, I know you have one of those Dick Rambone dildos. They're pretty realistic other than the proportions. I'm sure that was probably intended as a fisting substitute, though, since that monster is about the size of an arm. :D

We've never actually used it. It's a little disturbing how much you remember about me...

Don't worry about it. I just have a really good memory. Besides, you are one of my favorite posters, so I do tend to read your posts whenever I see them. :D Of course, I freak a lot of people out with the memory thing.

I sort of assumed you probably used Dick Rambone, though, since you said something about being willing to accept that you can't handle the whole length.

We both love strap on fucking. Our harness(Buzz Me Tender) has pouches for vibrators to stimulate her clitoris while she fucks me. As far as dildos are concerned we prefer silicone dildos. Two of our favorites are Vibrating Mistress and Vibrating Leisure. One word of caution about the dildo-make sure it is not too large in diameter. For me 1.25 inch diameter is the maximum that is comfortable for me, but 7 inches long is fine. Remember use lots and lots of lube.

Probably the best for stimulating both of us is our double dildo(Nexus). We use it with our harness as we fuck each other at the same time. She puts the curved end in her pussy and then with the straight end sticking out of the harness she rubs lube on it and slowly inserts it in me and we fuck each other. We usually cum together. She had her first squirting orgasm using this. It is so wild as we thrust and gyrate as we fuck each other.

Strap on sex is so hot. I love to see her wearing the strap on as she rubs lube on the dildo and talks dirty about her dick.

The best sources we have found for dildos and harnesses are shevibe.com and stormyleather.com.

PM me if you would like more details of our strap on fucking. I will be interested to hear details of your strap on fucking activities.
