 Well, a mild one for me here in Southern CA. Don't know all the data yet--but it was a frigglin' long one. Lasted maybe a full minute. Felt like the ground was rolling--wave like.

Any other southern CA homies feel it? Check in please!

My MIL in the Phoenix area felt it apparently. About ten minutes ago she said her dining room chandelier was still swinging.

Magnitude 6.9 down in Baja.

San Diego?

San Diego folk, you guys okay? Evidently S.D. got hit hard there. 6.9 is a sizable quake.

Kat, yes, they're saying it was felt as far as AZ.

I used to live in San Diego. Have sent e-mails. Waiting for responses.

Magnitude 6.9
Number's gone up. It's now being rated a 7.2  But my Aunt in S.D. says they barely felt it and all that happened in the house is a few pictures askew and a book fallen from the shelf.

Let's hear it for the rolling Earthquakes as compared to the ones that jolt and shake. They last longer but do far less damage.

Think all is ok - Friends in Yuma felt it bad tho

Yuma isn't all that far from El Centro. However, Yuma is supposedly in the light to moderate shaking and no damage area. If Yuma got damage, then things may be worse that expected from the map.

We were at mom's for Easter lunch. I felt it start and when it kept going I said, "Earthquake. And it's a big one a long way's away. Feels like the Mexico City quake of '85." Not bad for a wild guess. I'll bet Mexicali is about flat, poor devils. And BTW, that was a San Andreas special. Now is it reducing tension or leading up to The Big One?

A niece in Temecula said is was fairly strong but no damage there.

Forgive me, as I sympathise with anyone in a 'quake zone, but this thought struck me:

"And did the Earth move for you, Darling?"

I finally got the last San Diego report and, aside from a bit of shaking, everything is okay with no damage reported.

We got off light this time. Since the last quake on this system was in 1892, I believe, there was a lot of built up pressure on the faults. Better it hit in semi-uninhabited Baja California than in downtown San Bernardino!
