Is there a specific thread for a writer to publicly praise and thank an editor? I'm new around here and had a great experience with an editor. Where's the proper place to do that?

In Greek Mythology, Orthus was the two headed or two faced dog. I'm a two faced writer, writing both erotica and in my paid profession, a speech writer.

As long as you're not bashing, praise would be a good thing.

Then I praise

copycarver for teaching me about the "and sandwich."

Kumani for teaching me about "," in between two dependent clauses and the seven coordinating conjunctions.

Asylumseeker for helping me understand verb tenses.

MistressLynn for being the first person to give me the time of day about one year ago.

mismused, because she loves me, as I love her.

May your day and life be peaceful,

Espie

And look at the gift I received for doing so. :rose:

The Editor that I would like to thank publicly for making my story better and publishable is

TryingtoTry

She was responsive to my first request, then kept me abreast of how her editing was going. She made several spelling and grammar adjustments, as well as made suggestions on improving my story.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I only hope is that she reads this.

I hope I am speaking the mind of the editor community to issue thanks for you taking the time to acknowledge those who do volunteer their time to assist others. So many authors think this is a "right", instead of a privilege. Thanks much for acknowledging our commitment.

You're welcome. As far as I am concerned, not thanking someone who provides their personal time and energy to help with ANY project is wrong. Having my story even considered by someone more experienced than me to be worthy of submitting was as great a compliment to my writing as ANY public or anonymous comment would ever be.

This causes me to stop and wonder: Have we as a society become so selfish and ill-mannered that saying thank you brings notice? Sad. There should be a thank you for every time an editor has helped (which would be EVERY story read and commented on by and editor).

Out of all the authors I've worked with so far, less than a handful haven't thanked me. Most are very appreciative and let me know several times throughout our numerous conversations. There will always be those who are too selfish to offer a simple thank you, but they are the minority.

I have watched this discussion with some interest. It amuses me that nobody has mentioned that for editors who regard editing as a competitive sport, there is an annual "Most Helpful Editor" beauty contest - see http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?p=32894935#post32894935.

My thoughts have nothing to do with contests. I do know of this award, and note that I have done no nominating (although now I may). My thanks are purely out of, well, thanks.

Did you think it otherwise?

I'm not sure I understand why you posted this. It is as if you suspect that we have ulterior motives. If I am wrong in this, forgive me, because that is an assumption. But, if that is the case, at least on my part, you are dead wrong.

Respectfully,

Espie

No - not at all.

No offence was intend and I apologise if any was given. My comment was more about the "contest" than about your thoughts.

My thoughts have been for a number of years that this "contest" has two basic flaws:
1) Editing is not a competition, unlike writing where we are all competing for readers;
2) Most readers read stories from many authors and so can form comparative opinions of authors; most authors use only one editor and are happy with that editor (otherwise they would have changed) and therefore cannot form comparative opinions of the range of editors on this site.

Thank you, forgive me, and let us take this thread to the originators intention. I have a tendency to make false assumptions, and probably should have questioned you privately.

Zebra, for you.

I want to thank Zebra. Because he accepter to edit BC's story who write in the most weird sentence structure and average two mistakes in each line. (You may be experiencing now!)

"Ayurvedic Treatment" is edited by him and I'm getting nice ratings, 3.62 which is unbelievable for me and voted by 34 till this moment which is the highest number than other stories approved before six month. It means people reads instead of just viewing it.

Bunch of thanks to Zebara
