RNC is having a really bad week (or good depending on what folk were after).

the RNC inadvertently listed a phone-sex number on a fundraising letter sent to potential donors. People who tried to call the committee were instead offered "live, one-on-one talk with a nasty girl" for $2.99 a minute.
Full story here.

April 1st story or not, charging $2.99 a minute to talk live, one-on-one to a nasty girl is outrageous! I get that free every time I go to the local Starbuck's.

I'd like a cup of coffee, please.
What kind of coffee?
Just regular black coffee, please.
What the fuck is that??!! Do you want latte, frappamappacino, locomoco...What!!...What!!!
Do you have plain black coffee, preferably for less than $4.99? a cup?
Where've you been, you walking fossil, it's 2010!! Probably want something that's not fair trade and not shade grown!!
Okay, okay... fair trade, shade grown coffee please...one cup, black.
What the fuck is a cup??!! Do you want vente, grande, meggagutful..What!!...What!!!
Okay, okay...a mug of coffee, fair shade, trade grown...no...no...wait...I'll take a cinnamon bun, and a glass of water...please...
For fuck sakes!! What kind of water...

I'm relieved to find myself not the only one to have suffered this supposedly superior crap labelling .
And we are supposed to be in a Consumer-driven economy ?

I've had two cups of coffee from Starbucks in my life, both sucked and tasted burnt. In my opinion, if you are north of the border, Tim's does a much better cup o' joe, and down here in the land of free speech and political porn, Dunkin' Donuts and 7-Eleven....

Starbucks and Walmart are the two places I refuse to support, although I did go into a Walmart to buy the new Eagles CD, since that was the only outlet for it other than mail order.

Years ago, a local Starbucks asked me if I'd like to perform there. (I'm a musician.) I asked what they were paying. Silence. Then she said I'd be playing for tips. I told her I'd play for the tips of her tits...

not really. I just made that up - the part about her tits, although the rest is true.

Would have been better if it was a Gay Sex Line.

Cat

Since it's the RNC, does that make the cost for all calls to this number a tax write-off?

Amicus probably popped a woody thinking it might be Ann Coulter on the other end of the line...:D

 That is devilish! I approve! But, alas, this was an honest mistake, and when it comes to mistakes like this the odds are on a hetero sex line. Of course, if women called, they might have thought they'd gotten the lesbian sex club...

If they're not gonna let it go for strippers at a BDSM lesbian sex show, I don't think they'll let it go for $2.99 calls to Nasty Girl. Unless, maybe, if you talk politics with her...

Would this count?

"Oh yeah baby, I've seen you up on the Hill. The talk around the chambers is that you really know how to grease a palm. Come on baby, show me how you grease those palms. Grease me baby, oh yeah..."

.... [Edit for brevity]

I know I'm going to regret asking this, but, since none of these things are either BDSM strip clubs or phone sex lines, your point is what?

Other than simply illustrating that it takes spending money to make money and to make real money you have to go to where the money is ... and trust me, the money ain't driving dumpy little cars to go grab a bite at the diner across from the Holiday Inn Express they're staying at. People with money that go to things like $1,000, $5,000 or even $10,000 a plate fundraising dinners expect nice, expensive hotels with nice expensive caterers. They expect to be picked up at the airport in a limo, not Rent-A-Wreck. They watch a sporting event, they aren't sitting in the bleachers, their sitting in the luxury boxes (also with expensive caterers). Yes the DNC spent money -- now how about the corresponding graph as to what they got back from spending said money, beyond just cheap thrills?

He's just foaming at the mouth again. Ignore it, and maybe he'll go outside and get some fresh air instead of watching Fox News channel all day long.

But isn't it nice he wasted all of that time compiling irrelevant data to wax impotent on an erotica discussion board? :D

Creative Fundraising

I must be missing something because it seems like a creative fundraising strategy for a period in which both consumer and philanthropic confidence are depressed.

Republicans should be proud, and Democrats will likely soon be emulating this approach.

Ohhh... the RNC didn't actually get the money... never mind.

And Bill Clinton had his "Mustache Rides - $5.00" sign all made up in a competitive move to build the DNC warchest.

I'm still confused as to the point of this list...wait! Are you saying that the DNC has been wasteful with it's money? You're right! My gawd! Using this one example: they could have gotten 24 nights at a BDSM lesbian strip club for that 48K! That's nearly an entire month of bondage fun! And the $63 remaining dollars woulda bought a lot of Nasty girl minutes....

You are soooo right, Zeb! DNC wasted money on Sheraton Hotels instead. Losers!

Regardless of whether you think the money spent at Voyeur was wasteful, the salient point is that it's the Republican Party that moralizes about sexuality :caning:, not the Democratic Party.
