Don't know where this belongs but don't want to offend in the editing of my story. How long is reasonable time for a short story edit? It was accepted Jan 26 for edit. Thanks for the info.

Did one of the volunteer editors accept the story on Jan. 26? Is that what you're asking about?

Else, if you submitted the story, then you should look at your submission page to check the status. They don't edit anything once you click submit. You may have uploaded the story and somehow not completed the process. If you did finish and for some reason the site rejected the story, you'll see that on your page as well.

Regardless, a month is too long to wonder.

Thanks MystressLynn it has been accepted for two months. She wrote back two times, the last said she would edit it when she had time. It is a mostly true story that is about a three way relationship that went on for several months. I thought the subject may have offended but I have read many on this site and believe it acceptable. The story means a lot to me as wife and I have genuine feelings for the third party. I don't want to rush or offend my editor though.

I think it would be reasonable to communicate to the editor your frustration with the time frame here--in a polite way. If she cannot complete it within a specific time, you should look for someone else.

Did the intended editor indicate that he/she received the story? I always confirm receipt as emails can sometimes end up in SPAM boxes, etc. Not that every editor is so well-intentioned as to send a receipt. I also keep writers appraised of my progress, or non-progress, every two days. Such as "still working on another edit, you're next, might get to yours on Tuesday", etc.

Can't account for anyone else. Unfortunately responsibility is an attribute "difficult" (didn't use "hard) to come by.

Sorry for your difficulties. I can do what I can if you're of a mind to PM me and wait, shouldn't be too long, but at least you'll know where you stand.

Non-communication is a pet peeve of mine, I get many compliments for keeping writers "in the loop". And all for the lofty price of a glass of water - tap water. At a tap that is not my own.

Go figure.

Others feed the hungry, distribute flyers, all I do is propogate erotica. Less footwork.

Thanks

Just wanted to thank MistressLynn for her good advice and AsylumSeeker for taking a very amateurish writing and doing the impossible. I am deeply grateful to both of you to make it possible to post a very personal experience. Anyone who can get AsylumSeeker to edit their work is most fortunate. He is fast, understanding and constructive. He is also one of our Nations finest having served her well.

Again Thanks
