Camping season is approaching!

So, I’m wondering, do you now or have you ever camped?

If yes, do you like it? And how do you camp - tent, trailer, camper, etc? Where do you camp – private campgrounds, gov’t campgrounds, the further away from civilization the better, anywhere there’s a Jacuzzi tub and room service, etc? Best camping stories? Worst camping stories? Sexy camping stories?

Anyway, I’ll be setting up the tent and whittling a stick for roasting marshmallows while I wait for replies.

I used to camp with my parents all the time growing up. They're huge history nerds and were into the 18th century reenactment thing. I loved it. I didn't really ever notice they were dressing me in funny clothes, i just loved the camping aspect and the being allowed to run wild with all my friends (as it was always the same group of people, there was very much a "it takes a village" atmosphere).

As an adult, my husband and I tend to enjoy the further-away-from-civilization-the-better type of sites, but often are with friends who prefer actual organized campsites with bathrooms, with the car in-sight. We haven't been in a few years, though, since my daughter was born. I'm not sure when we'll start taking her...maybe once she's potty-trained which we're working on right now. I just don't want to have to be packing out dirty diapers, yuk!

We use to camp regularly when I was little, but it was years between then and when we went camping last year... If you could call turning a rambunctious city kid loose on mother nature.

I can't say as I'm overly fond of camping, especially since we use tents, but there's a very inexpensive little campground within an hour and a half of me. It's beautiful, on a fairly kid-friendly river, there's crawdadding and a swimming hole. It's truly a beautiful place... And there isn't too much bear or cougar activity, which is helpful. It would be nice if there were flush toilets and showers, but one can't have it all.

I used to love doing it and now that my back is feeling better, I want to do some camping with the kids. I do prefer an air matress if were are going to use tents, though, I"m a wuss.

I love the lazy afternoons....sitting back in a lounge chair, kids running all over, book handy, never knowing who I might strike up a coversation with.

I think kinky camping might be fun, but I worry about hygiene and body parts getting poked by things that aren't fun to be poked by.

My mom told me a story of once peeing on a bees nest and being stung all over her very private areas. It required hospitalzation apparently. She laughed about it, 30 years later!

I'm into backpacking and camp in the wilderness allot. The wife, on the other hand, does not hike. But we do camp. We go to small lake nearby that has boat-in camp site only. Usually pretty empty on weekdays, so naked camping is the normal for us. Also, found a clothing optional campgrounds in western N.Y. (www.brushwood.com) that is friendly. Couldn't ask for more. Hot tub, pool, and good people.

I love to camp.

The best - hammocks in a Guatemalan National Park on New Year's Eve. We were woken just before dawn by the howler monkeys (which we thought were some kind of big cat at first), got up in the darkness to climb the Mayan ruins and had to clear the way for a herd of coatamundi's that were running through the jungle in the dark.

Later that day we came upon two huge vultures (easily over 5 feet tall) doing a mating dance. That was really cool. . .

The worst - hmm. I really love to camp. Even the uncomfortable nights were fun. Occasionally the social scene in a given campground is more than I can handle, but I also like people, so I just put on my people-watching gaze and enjoy the show.

I *have* done it, but I don't really care for it. I have a hard enough time sleeping when I'm at home in a comfortable bed. Also, I like running water too much. :p

Being an ex-eagle scout, I've done a lot of camping. I haven't done that much in the last 10 years or so, because I have nobody to camp with. And, the last time I camped with a group, somehow we lost or someone stole my tent. It was a very nice 10 person canvas tent. It was very heavy, when folded up...not easy to just walk off on it's own. If stolen, they didn't get the metal tubing or the poles but I guess they could figure something out to make the tent work. I, on the other hand, just had the tubing and the poles. Not much of a tent, there.

I guess I've lost interest in the recent years, but it wouldn't take much for me to get the interest back again, if the opportunity arose. A nice BDSM camping weekend would be interesting. :D

I loves me a real bathroom so I camp rarely. I really went all out for my Girl Scout Troop because gosh darnit, that's the kind of leader I am but I'm more of a flushing toilet, hot shower kind of girl.

:D

Yes, I camp. But, I don't love it, so I couldn't click that choice. I camp because K and the kids love camping. I, personally, love my bed too much to enjoy camping.

Yeah, watch out for stinging nettle, too.

I don't know this from experience. Really.

When I was younger, my dad and my "uncle" Wade used to take my brother, Wade's two (might as well be) step-sons, and I camping almost every other weekend. We would go camping out on the lake at a place called "Perry's Point," after my grandfather.

We would get out there on Thursday afternoon and usually stay til Sunday evening. Wade and the boys would usually come up Friday. The adults would tend to stay up close to the campsite but the 4 of us kids would wonder all up the side of that mountain once the sun set. I loved it!!! (Might have had something to do with that I was HEAD-OVER-HEELS in love with the youngest boy that was the same as me. lol)

We have all grown up, now. The boys both have kids of their own now from my understanding and my brother is in the Marines and well I'm still in school. But my dad and "uncle" Wade still go camping during the summer time but they say it isn't the same without us "kids" out in the water or out somewhere on the mountain.

oooooh! a BDSM campout!!!! screw the city scene. this sounds much better. :D

Then you both might enjoy reading about these events:

Camp Crucible (East coast)

Tease (Ontario)

There's also a spanking weekend camping event held somewhere in Wisconsin each summer, but I couldn't find the link in my quick search.

Love it.

And some of my favorite sexual experiences have been while camping/hiking/exploring.

Indeed. You don't know the meaning of "hot sex" until you've fucked for an hour in a canvas pup tent in the heat of an August afternoon.

LOL. I'm married to man with a "thing" for wilderness nookie. He spots a remote, exotic landscape and sees the sensual possibilities - I, however, see that I'd better bring something soft to sit on...and insect repellent...and sunscreen.

Always the practical one.

:D More like fucking on a mountain ridge on a crisp fall day, miles of valley laid out before you as you climax. Mmmmmmm.

someone has to be the practical one! don't forget the aloe vera!

i love, love, love cooking campfire breakfasts. i think that is one of my favorite things about camping. i remember camping about ten years ago with a big group of friends in early September. the first cold front of the season blew through on Friday night. it was so amazing to be outside in a tent while the season changed around us. plus, the campfire breakfast the next morning had to be one of the best meals i have ever eaten.

I do love camping. I generally do cabins though, and just spend the days outdoors. The only thing that I don't like about camping is the bugs. A cabin helps me with that. I could still do the tent thing though - I think we'd just need to go somewhere that isn't filled with ginormous bugs (small ones I can handle) and a pretty serious tent.

I know I've joked about my bug fear, but I actually am very outdoorsey and love everything else about camping! I have great memories of camping from when I was a kid, sitting around the campfire with my friends. Love, love, love it. I love hiking, like cooking on the fly on a cookstove, making s'mores...The best part of camping for me is the hiking and fresh air though, so that's why a cabin is pretty darn good too. Also, I don't mind renting a full on house in the country, and driving to the mountains. It's not camping, but then I get a full kitchen to cook in.

Um, can I just take all of the above? Lol.

I love camping but haven't been in.... 6 years? I would love to go camping/hiking again sometime, but don't know when I'd get the chance.
