He donates exclusively to the Democrats, from what I know of him.

But have you seen what he stands for?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Wigger, please.

At least he cheated with an adult woman. You seriously don't want me to bitch slap you with Newt Gingrich or worse, all the Republicans who've been busted for pedophilia. Do you? Oops. Too late!

Hit me upside the head wif som black titty.

Around here, you cheat on somebody, you don't issue a statement, some mad husband breaks a bong over your head.

Cosby's biggest hypocrisy comes from his insistence that young people follow a path of education rather than shortcuts, when he himself bought at least one of his degrees instead of earning it.

Yeah but you can't deny the man was damned well educated before he did that.

Who would you want teaching your kids if it came down to him or Dan Quayle?

I'm curious: how do you think Cosby was "damned well educated"?

He dropped out of school after failing tenth grade, eventually got an equivalency degree, studied phys ed at Temple, and then bought his doctorate at UMASS after hardly attending a class there.

Pardon the pun, but that's not a great track record.

Bill C. made a fortune telling jokes.

Dan Q. was the 2nd most powerful man in the country.

Neither thrill the hell out of me.

Ehm, he can spell better than Dan Quayle?

Well, so can a chicken with magnetic letters. But what's that have to do with Cosby and his "great" education?
Wait, I decided to go look up your UMASS claim. He got his degree there under an already existing program, not one that was tailor made for him. Hell, Bill Gates dropped out of college - do you consider him uneducated?

ETA: oh my God, this guy has honorary degrees from all over the place. How many universities have that much respect for you, RoryN?

Wait, I decided to go look up your UMASS claim.

Did you expect to find something akin to "Bill bought his doctorate"? Because I assure you, much money & favors exchanged hands to make sure something like that would never happen.

They wanted Bill the entertainer as spokesperson, and they got him. Cosby helped legitimize the former agricultural school as something more prestigious, and that translated into big $$$ for the university. I don't think Bill knew who he was dealing with (at least, I'd like to think he didn't). But the truth is that UMASS had no problem selling him the paper because the people who run that school are, let's say, a mite shady - and have been since the mid 1960s or so.

Find a list of all UMASS presidents for the past 30 years...and see if one name in particular jumps out at you. It's a clue. If you can't figure it out on your own, post the names here, and I'll lead you to the water.

Should this become a collaborate effort to discredit Bill Cosby, count me out. I only stoop as low as the ground beneath my feet will allow me.

Ahhhh, so you're speculating. I'm sure he bought all those other honorary degrees, too. Like I said, how many universities BESIDES Umass has that much respect for you?

Rory, dude. Mike Yates does a better job of this than you.
Take that as a compliment.

*sigh* Okay so he bought his degree at Umass. I even found the receipt. Care to explain the conspiracy that's going on at all the other universities who honored him?

How many comedians out there get that many honors from universities?

PS: do you consider Bill Gates
a) well educated
b) not well educated
?

This began with your assertion that Cosby was "damned well educated", and now you're talking about "honorary degrees" and "respect" after bringing in Dan Quayle, Bill Gates (for some reason) and me, none of which have a thing to do with Cosby's actual education. And I certainly don't remember comparing myself to him.

People who herd sacred cows aren't worth a shit. Move along.

He's a talented comedian and has contributed plenty to the education of youth; I take none of those accomplishments away from him. But hypocrisy is hypocrisy, and I feel it's especially damaging when you're undercutting a specific message you're giving young people on a regular basis because of it.

Jeremy Clarkson has an honorary doctorate in engineering.

Jeremy Clarkson has an honorary doctorate in engineering.

Jason Alexander is another comedian with an honorary degree.

Eddie Izzard, too.

Jimmy Fallon.

George Burns.

Bill Murray.

Bob Hope.

Stephen Colbert.

Ben Stein.

Jackie Mason.

Charlie McCarthy, Edgar Bergen's ventriloquist dummy, got one from Northwestern.

And I can find more.

Of course I respect him.... he, Rev Jesse Peterson and others, are (were) trying to undo the damage that Jesse and Al have done.

I'm an old I Spy fan...love the coz. But I have to admit I wish he'd stick to comedy and not talk serious issues.

Good deal. Now tell me... do you think they all bought their honorary degrees? Or just Bill Cosby?
