I'm trying to get back to the Sadism of S/M. If you have a Dom who is servicing his masochistic Sub, can the Dom be called sadistic in any way? The Sub sets the parameters, the Dom gets to inflict pain on her up to her point of non-consent. If the Dom is only so far sadistic as the sub allows, then he is in service to her, regardless of the way he gets her to that point. If his reasoning is, "She's giving total control to me to get her to her threshold, and thereby still in service to me." That still doesn't answer the question of sadism, someone who takes pleasure in someone's pain. If the masochist is experiencing pleasure through the infliction of pain, the Dom should already know this outcome. How could a Dom within the boundaries of contractual, consensual S/M ever be called a sadist?

Are you asking about actual punishment, in a Dom/sub contract? Yes. There should always be a clause, and of course punishment has to be real punishment-- something the sub really does not want.

The worse thing a sadist can do to a masochist is absolutely nothing.
First off, quite trying to make a Dom a sadist. The two don't match up in real life. Again, S&M and D/s are two separated things although they do overlap with pain. The punishment can be as simple as withholding something the sub wants. The trick is to do it in a way that makes the sub want it even more. Mind games, control, and release of control all play into this.
