I'm an Apple Cultist and even I can't apologize for the name they choose for their new tablet (I think they ought to have gone back to the "Newton" myself). Marketing blew it big time, and the inevitable jokes are up and running--and very, very funny.

Oh, dear! You'd think with all that internet connectivity someone at Apple would have done a search and found that--and maybe forwarded it to marketing?

Even if it wasn't Jobs himself, he's the President Truman of Apple. The buck stops with him. I'm guessing that iTablet and other choices were taken (people have gotten wise and are using that "i" in names for products to trick or cash in), but still....
