I read that numzit (and the like) actually toughens the gums and makes it harder for them to teeth. I never got a chance to try it, but I've heard that clove oil works better AND doesn't make teething any more aweful.

Teething tablets aren't like the numzit stuff. They're little white pills that you poke into the baby's mouth. They're all natural, they help calm the baby, and there's some combination that helps deaden the tissue in the mouth, without numbing it like Orajel.

The teething tablets were the only thing that would shut my one nephew up for the better part of two months. Worked great when I started cutting my wisdom teeth too.
