Okay, but for the sake of discussion, let us suppose that two close relatives, a male and a female, both above the age of consent, enter into a sexual relationship which is entirely consensual. They take the necessary precautions to make sure that no pregnancy results from their activity. Irrespective of what the law may say, under whatever jurisdiction, why should society interfere in such a relationship? And, again, where a same-sex relationship comes about between close relatives, where no pregnancy can result from that activity, why should society interfere with this relationship?

I was never in what I regard as a full incestual relationship, in the sense of full penetrative intercourse, but I got pretty close to this. Your statement incorporating, "any sexual activity between close relatives..." includes me, but I don't feel that this definition has any relevance to what happened to me. Because premarital sex is a social taboo that the average person can stomach hearing about. As taboos go, premarital sex is really on the low end of the spectrum these days.

I think it does go with the natural flow actually, we just don't want to admit it. If it weren't a common practice there were would not have to be a prescribed social taboo to address it. This is just my opinion obviously but our closest relatives genetically, the bonobo monkeys, regularly engage in incestual relationships in order to establish bonds and to put an end to arguments. I don't see why we wouldn't have either.
