Worst feedback you've ever received

title / subject

Someone asked me why I felt it necessary to take the Lord's name in vain in my erotica.

I've been on the recieving end of a mangekyou of harsh responses, but this one had me confused in so many directions at once, it's hard to know where to begin.

Why is someone who's reading porn care? Or for those of you whose glass is half-empty, why is someone who cares about the lord's name reading porn?

Who ever insinuated that it was necessary to write porn in the first place? By affiliation, who would think that, having written porn unecessarily, it was a critical juncture in selecting the lord's name as opposed to saying fuck instead?

I would've given the simple response of "Because I'd said 'fuck' too many times already, and I like my porn to be an educational journey through the modern dictionary."

Worse than the fucking grammar police (guilty, but still running from the spelling police). Where's the thread where people post their flame comments so everyone can laugh?

I once got some pretty damn bad feedback off some guy pretty much trying to make me pack it all in and, in his own words, "don't quit my dayjob,".

I've gotten that one. And I haven't quit my day job. But I'm also not giving any of the checks back. :) Despite what some of these cretins say I make a decent portion of my living from writing. Because they can't handle a LW story I guess that negates everything else.

I don't pay much attention to critics. Sometimes, I get some irritating comments. Sometimes, I get some useful ones.

Everybody's a critic anyway when they read you, and the Internet just makes people feel better about insulting you because they don't have to look you in the eyes.

For me, personally, I write for myself with the aim of entertaining and creating characters and sexual situations that intrigue me and hopefully others.

Here's the worst bit I've received. Needless to say, it was for a 'loving wives' story...

why don't you actually try writing a story with real character, as opposed to this utter nonsense? it's not the sex or the degradation. if in your mind that makes it good story telling, so be it.... but why don't you come up with believable characters? <p>

the total gibberish nonsense you churned out here, it's worse than shit... at least shit smells and we know it's shit; but this is utter bullshit of gibberish nonsense. it's a waste of the reader's time; a waste of your time, and a waste of Lit space...

By the way, it got some incredibly positive feedback from some women. And the voting went either 0 or 5 on it; no fence sitters on this one.

Come to think of it, my worst feedback was for my highest rated story (tied for it).

My worst rated story doesn't have any really bad feedback (only two people commented at all on it  ).

If it's really terrible most people don't get to the end to bother commenting, and usually the most popular will have some haters, just statistics

I agree. I write the kind of story I would like to read if someone else wrote it.

After reading some of the negative feedback posted by other posters, I do not feel so bad about the negative feedback I have received.

I've never posted on the forum before so hopefully this comes out right.

I saw this thread and just had to add my own most recent comment. It made me laugh when I read it, and I wanted to share!

"Oh my gosh, I almost peed myself when I read this story. Such crap! Do you have no shame? I will ask Santa to leave a turd in your stocking, and maybe ask him to wipe his ass on your tablecloth before he leaves for the next stop. Have a Merry Christmas."

And there it is. Terrible! ;)

Most of the angry stuff I get are aggressive dudes who are very, very angry at my female characters and/or weak males. It's really terrible how violent their imagery is.

Snap!

I've just had a PC on one of my very old stories.

My Femdom stories are fantasies, role playing, FICTION.

Those commenting seem unable to recognise the concepts of fantasy or fiction (except that male superiority is sacrosanct).

Well... I got a death threat a couple years ago for a story I worte. That was pretty stupid. What were they going to do. Shoot their monitor?

No one has ever bothered to send me really bad feed back. I have a few short negative comments, but no details or threats.

There was one person who started on Chap 1 with, "Let's see where this goes." After Chap 3, the same person said, "Well, that's enough of that," and gave it a one vote.

I got a knock in the story review thread for a chapter because it was not a stand alone story, all by itself. A strange sort of comment for a story posted in "novels". It's sort of like opening Treasure Island in the middle and wondering why there are so many pirates.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but my truly worst feedback was recently being 'unfavorited'. The cute little broken heart broke mine. I looked at the reader's other favorites; it was an excellent list. She'd only favorited one chapter of mine and I guess I didn't cut it any longer. :(

I've gotten negative comments, but the really off-the-wall nasty ones have been funny to me for some reason. Some person predicted how my story was going to go and pre-judged it "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" It was so poorly written, I had to read the comment three times to interpret it. One person told me I needed to go back to school and learn "grammer." No doubt grammer school.

For the most part, my feedback has been very good, and I plan to never submit in loving wives.

It really disturbs me that people are saying they've gotten such awful feedback on LW stories that's like sitting down and putting the tv on and recording a show you really hate only to watch it later and yell at the tv? People who write horrible comments on LW stories are most likely slightly mentally unstable.

From what I could gather, s/he was perfectly happy with the content of the story otherwise. It was just that single word that was disturbing. I suppose if I'd've used "Damn!" instead of "God damn!", it would have been just fine.

The LW draws out the worst of the trolls, it seems. Mostly men who identify, for some 'unknown' reason with any seemingly weak or cuckolded husband and have no sense of humour or irony. As I noted, mine received some very good comments there as well (all from women, of course), so don't be disturbed about the bad ones.

If I do not like a story, I will not read it, or I will stop reading it. Is there any kind of story that attracts negative feedback because of the subject matter?

...

Don't worry about being "unfavorited" for a story. It's a useful device for bookmarking a story to come back to it later, particularly if there are several chapters.

I'm frequently favorited and unfavorited for stories.

Yes. Anything that is obviously in the wrong category. If you are reading "Romance" and the romance is actually Incest then you'll get flamed.

Or Incest that isn't; BDSM that is too tame; a story written in chapters when each chapter is a different category - that is almost guaranteed to annoy someone because every category has different fans - ; and my speciality, Fetish.

It is almost impossible to win with the Fetish category. Either the reader likes the particular fetish and is pleased with the story, or hates it and is disgusted, or finds it incomprehensible and switches off. I have several "Unbirth" stories. The responses vary from "great!" to "yeuck!".

I have an incomplete story that addresses the fetish for South Indian Women's Hairy and Sweaty Armpits. I haven't managed to complete it. The appropriate Yahoo Adult Group has several thousand members. They might appreciate it. The general Literotica reader would be left saying "What the Fuck was that about?".

Loving Wives is difficult. Whatever type of story you write, some Loving Wives reader will hate it. If, as I did, you write a story about a loving and supportive wife, almost ALL the Loving Wives readers will hate it.

Interesting...

I've had three PCs from what appears to be the same Anonymous in one day on a story I posted in 2002.

Anonymous seems not to like it.

It's about time I revised/rewrote it but Anonymous still wouldn't like it because his, presumably "his", objections are that it is a femdom story.

I wonder whether Anonymous has been reading this thread.

Just got one today

I was told I was a horrible person for posting part of a story but not the rest. Some of you may agree, I don't know. Anyway, this specific piece of anonymous feedback told me that some of my loyal readers were poor, destitute and near death, and how awful I was to pull a bait-and-switch with the story.

I'm trying to figure out how someone so deathly ill and poor has time and access to visit a site like this. Not to mention the fact that I was quite clear about how many chapters would be posted and why.
