I'm afraid that's incorrect, the jobs are already filled by cronies of Daley and Obama if I know anything about Chicago/Illinois politics. So no new jobs for the common man.

Rockford is a relatively small city, and I don't like the idea of having the trials in such a major city as Chicago. Maybe they can set up a courtroom in the facility itself. That would eliminate some of the security problems that would otherwise exist in the matter of transporting the prisoners.

Last I heard, Rockford was the second largest city in Illinois.

Does the Justice Department really need a prison. There's a very nice unsaleable house for sale at 5046 S Greenwood Ave. The owner is never there and the neighbors hate him anyway.

Actually the idea of moving the terrorists to Chicago is a really bad idea. I truly believe that criminal element running Chicago don't want the competition.

I think enough has been said. I'm still worried that some of the Gitmo detainees have not been convicted of anything, and any trial would be compromised by their treatment while in Gitmo and before.

And Rockford isn't that far from Chicago, an hours drive down the expressway, I90.

Rockbottom is not Chicago. It is well over an hour from my house, which is an hour from Chicago.

Also, by population, Chicago is biggest, Aurora is second. Rockford, Joliet, and Naperville, in that order, round out the top 5, according to 2008 stats.

Nope...it's an hour from Elgin, an hour and a half from ORD, about two hours from the circle interchange, a little over 2 hours from MDW. It's farther out west than people tend to think, with a lot of nothing between it and Barrington Rd.

And yes, I do know what I'm talking about since my job requires me to drive between that area and ORD quite frequently. These times are when outbound traffic is flowing over 50 mph.
