How Many Poor People Attended?

I thought at first your Messiah referred to Handel's oratorio of the same name, but then I suppose you might contend that the aria "despised and rejected" would be appropriate.

The food was better than the Bush fundraisers I attended, at about half the cost.

Was Jesus there, jimbo?

If not, you're an idiot.

Gee guys, when the wealthy hand-over 30K to Obama its like Jews doing the same for Hitler. Didnt you tell me all the rich people were GOP?

Here is Obama's problem made manifest. He was elected, as JJ said, "Because he wasn't Bush!," he hasn't the seniority in the party to be able to command the "party leaders", those back room guys that really choose the candidates, and he can't control the Democratic caucus because he ain't an LBJ.

As a result he finds himself a figurehead for "Yes, We Can", a cheerleader for the party line but no power to control the agenda.

He is constrained to support the military, meaning supporting the Mill-Indus Complex and the hawkish attitudes that started this mess in the first place, while hoping to unfuck the economy.

I feel sorry for the poor bastard, but he volunteered for the job.

The system is better here where people have to open their own pocket books to support parties rather than most of Europe where The State - i.e. poor taxpayers - have to fund the pork barrel politics.

Can you say 'Haliburton'?

yeah, it's working really well here. people are happy, fulfilled in their jobs get the holiday time they need, healthy

And living conditions simply suck all over Europe.

I feel so sad for everyone who wasn't born an AMERICAN shining and free. God Bless us!

So ask youself who got bailed out, Jim? The poor?

I like the TITANIC scenario. First Class passengers had plenty of lifeboats and were hardly inconvenienced by the disaster. Probably had their fares refunded. This is often how these things work.

Crap!

Yes, living conditions suck all over Europe. For every poor sucker living in an impoverished trailer park in the US, there are a thousand families in Europe living in unrepaired state subsidized apartment blocks with no hope of escape.

Sure, union and employment law is trying to destroy any chance of escaping the despair, but to claim that the US of whatever political persuasion - is against social change and the advancement of the underclass is simplistic.

yeah, we are the totally best at social change and advancement of the underclass.

Everybody knows that! God bless us! And if He doesn't we'll put the words in His Mouth for him, just to be sure.

Hi.

When you have finally pried your head out of your rectum, you're welcome over to my urban housing project. It's pretty much like your urban housting projects. But we speak European over here. Don't worry, I'll translate. We have Big Macs and Budweiser here too, so you won't starve.

love
Europe

Elfin Odalisque is beginning to remind me more and more of Roxanne Appleby.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Elfin says daft things sometimes as did Roxanne but they both also say interesting and intelligent things . And Elfin does have the gift of brevity.

Both of course were part of this forum in 'the good old days' for which there has been a deal of pining lately.

You Stella have copped a lot of very unpleasant and unjustifiable crap lately, not entirely unlike the shellacking Roxanne got for the better part of nine months during the last election. That doesn't justify the abuse but I couldn't help noticing the irony of two such different people being treated with scant tolerance by their detractors.:)

I wish you could've seen the horribly nasty PMs Roxanne used to send me. She was nothing like she pretended, and as much as I disagree with EO on many things, as far as I know, she doesn't send those.

The shellacking Roxanne got was in some part undeserved. About ten, fifteen percent, I'd say.

I probably deserved about ten to fifteen percent of the crap that's been thrown at me lately.

So yeah, irony-- for a certain value of. ;)

Valid point. I tend to think that if I'm not prepared to put something controversial on the board I probablyshouldn't put it in a pm.
