This is just sad. I hope he never actually got in the balloon and didn't fall out of it. :(

(CNN) -- A balloon that was set adrift by a 6-year-old boy from his parents' Colorado home was found empty, CNN affiliate KMGH said, citing a police report.
The balloon landed south of Prospect Springs, Colorado, Thursday afternoon.

The boy was not inside the helium aircraft when it landed, KMGH reported.

A sibling saw the boy get into the craft Thursday morning. Officials were concerned that the boy may have fallen out of it, an undersheriff said.

Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said a sibling saw Falcon Heene climb into the basket before the balloon took off from his parents' home.

Because the door on the balloon was unlocked, it's possible the boy had fallen out, Martinez said.

he's safe at home, no other details yet. probably let the balloon go and got scared and hid.

the best is the bill his parents are going to get for the search and rescue expenses.

Apparently his family at one time had appeared on the reality show, Wife Swap and were weather nuts. I wonder if the boy climbed in as his sibling claimed and then hid after he let it go, or if the sibling knew he wasn't in there in the first place.

Wouldn't we all have enjoyed calling the parents murderers if the boy had died!:):)

This forum ought to be called the Schadenfreude forum, we take so much delight in spite.

Did anyone ever tell you that you look just like Abe Lincoln before he grew the beard?

So Falcon knew he'd done something wrong when the balloon floated away and, like a normal six-year-old would do, he went and hid. Did a good job, too. I'd suspect that he fell asleep in the box while everyone around him was panicking. Things like that leave a parent in a real quandary. Do you kiss then or beat them?

Both! Kiss them repeatedly until you calm down and then let them have it. (whatever type of discipline said parent uses)

I'm glad it turned out ok. Hope the parents learn from this. JMO but having an air balloon in your backyards just as bad, if not worse, than having an ungated pool.

I'm somewhat confused about the kid's remark on ABC when he said, "My dad said we did it for the show."

I just read an article that mentions that. It went on to say that the kid was actually referring to the fact that he "re-created" his climb into the attic for the cameramen. Whether that's the truth or not, I don't know.
