It seems we've come to a point in the thread where everyone has voiced their concerns about what's happening in AH. What I believe needs to happen is to work out the differences of opinions and everyone work on making it a room where we can enjoy it like it was before and can be again. It saddens me to think that I'll never have the chance to participate in the threads and comaraderie that have happened before and seem to be lost forever. I've read enough posts from people and can see that there are enough who want to enjoy it again, so why not get together, welcome the noobs to the fold and show them how it was and do it again. I'm in, how 'bout you?

No, many didn't because they've chosen to ignore him since they can't get him banned. I think JBJ thinks he's being ironic and clever, the smartest person in the room. And he loves reactions like this one, by the way. Someone did an excellent post on just how this all works with JBJ earlier in the thread.

Heck...I'm in Lance. Whatever the diverse tones the AH carries. As a newb, I have little reference as to what directions, good or bad, it has taken. But I have seen many here with contributions that pull my interest to any thread they post to. Others...I skim or pass over...no sweat off my back.
And there's a penalty box? Is this something I should avoid? It may actually tempt misbehavior on my part, depending on who's already been put there.

This is a nice thread Jimmy. We're trying to share a sandbox with everyone and we all get to play together. Stop being the turd in the sand and learn to play nice with the other kids. You know your my buddy, I'll make sure they don't make fun of your big ears and your bald head, and if you can, please put your pants back on and stop playing with yourself. I know you think it's cool and all, that you can do it with your feet, but we really don't find it amusing. Just say some nice things and make someone smile for a change. You never know what might happen.

We have everyone who is complaining about the political threads, etc, but has anyone ever asked Laurel about making a forum for them?
I just sent her a pm asking her about it. And though I know many are against a moderator for this forum, I asked if she didn't want to create a political forum, then could she appoint a moderator whose only job would be to get rid of the spam and move the political threads to the GB. Eventually, you have to decide which is the lesser of two evils.
I know many of you are "afraid" of what a moderator would do, but I can tell you from personal experience, it's only what is described above. You would still have to put the trolls on ignore but the political threads would be gone.
I will let you know if Laurel answers and what she says.

It's just about being civil.
Many of us here have had knock-down arguments, serious fights and have resolved them to the "agree to disagree" point.
But we can talk to each other about it. We're adults.
The only ones in my view who are worthy of ignore are ones who offer nothing but insults or consistently start thread after thread of the same old crap.

At one time we had a newbie thread but it has slid into the basement and lost for ever. Then a new one was started but our Queen of newbies got sick and it also was lost.
I believe it was Ogg who posted a short history of the AH or something along that line a few years ago but i can't find the thread it was in. Ogg if you know what I'm talking about do you know where it is?

Making a sub-forum for the politics would require a moderator to move the threads, at least in the short term. There's no way Laurel could keep up with it. Unless Laurel just chooses someone and does it, it will never happen.
We've been through this before, and there are just enough people decrying the thought of any sort of moderation to derail such effort.

I agree MC, it would give us noobs a better understanding of why there's so much animosity over what was and a chance to resurrect it again. Hopefully it's not the Titanic we're talking about here.
